Another wonderful road trip is in the books...
We returned Tuesday after logging 3400 miles in the 65 Coronet.
Departing Alabama on A friday afternoon we traveled to the lake Superior shores via Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin and into the Upper part of Michigan where we toured the Lake Superior shore and ending up in St Ignace and Mackinac Island.
Then across the Straits bridge and south along the Lake Michigan shore... and a visit with family in SE Michigan.
We road through the Northern Indiana Amish country... through central Kentucky and Tennessee and back home to Alabama.
We stayed on US highways and secondary state roads with just a few exceptions on Interstate hwys.
The Coronet performed flawlessly... It did not use a drop of oil and averaged 17 MPG on the trip. (318 w/fac air). Weather was beautiful and all but 150 miles were with the top down.
I can relate to chrgsteve67's comment about being dissapointed when the trip was over.... But can still look forward to November and the Turkey run in Daytona Beach.
