Leaving saturday morning to fly to Denver and buy a 62 plymouth and drive it back to Indiana. I hope it drives as well as the guy says. Wish me luck that the /6 and the reast of the 50 year old car make it a easy trip.

You're braver than me driving an unknown vehicle that far.

Good luck.

It will be an adventure! I'm questioning my judgement on this one but the flight is booked and if nothing else I'll just pass on the car and fly back

Good Luck!
Weather along the I-70 corridor from Denver thru Kansas looks great,
Take pics and enjoy.

Good luck, Happy Moparing...

Cast-iron balls!!

bring tools with you and take lots of pics!!! that will be an adventure to remember!!!

good luck and Godspeed!!!

I have done that before, and if you approach it in the spirit of Adventure, you will be OK. Leave yourself plenty of time, bring a cell phone, charger, cash and credit card. You can buy tools and parts as needed along the way. Don't trust the fuel gauge, fill it before you depart and stop and refill it after 100 miles. Check the MPG so you will know your safe range and while you are at the station, grab some snacks and some bottled water, a quart of oil and ATF if so equipped, and give the car a good once over again. Don't forget to check the wipers, the worst time to find out the blades are shot or the motor/linkage is bad is during a deluge when you are trapped in traffic. Have fun and be safe:headbang:

heres a small tip....CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND TELL THEM YOU WILL BE TRAVELING........... i made a trip to Detroit a few years ago....went to buy gas.....NOTHING,,,the credit card company shut off my card because they thought someone stole it because the purchase was out-of-state. i barely got home !

Thank you for all the advice and I am looking at it as a much wanted/needed adventure. I will post pictures as I go and have a back up plan

Hey! Congratulations! This'll be a great adventure ; and even if it turns to crap, it'll be a good story to tell later. Like Jimmy Buffet usta say "We do what we do for the stories we can tell.."
These days, Mr tpodwdog's advice is sound - had the same thing happen to me once with a gasoline card. Visa/MC usually isnt as 'sensitive' , but be prepared. Please post pics and trip updates from the road if possible - if not, will be looking forward to the story when you get back home.
Have fun, be careful.

That sounds like the kind of trip i would take, Good luck.
Its nice to see there are still some of us looking for a good road adventure.

It's a Plymouth it will make it no problem :) having faith for you and the car. Good luck.

I admire you..it sounds like it would be a blast!
...in that 62.....(make sure the E brake works)
A /6 will go forever...I had a grandfater-in law that had a
belvedere '62, /6 and like he said,"knock on wood ,I never changed the oil"!!! it was the only car (that I know) he ever had...smoked like a son of a bi#ch! but would not die!!! he just would add oil when needed.:toothy6:

sonny

P.s. I think that's the car!

I'm up, showered, packed and ready to begin this adventure :headbang:

I've always heard the /6 was a tough one to kill and we just might be finding out

Rock on! Man, if you can survive the #$%^&* airport, the rest of the trip will be a rollicking good time, regardless of car performance issues!

Good luck, have fun. Looking forward to the story.

62 ran good on test drive and died at gas station, won't restart, help is on the way
