Down but make sure they line up with the rockers..they are your oiling holes...also make sure that the offset is correct on the rockers, especially if you removed them from the shafts.
Thanks,
Thought so but wanted to be sure. I test fitted the rockers and everything lines up but wanted to double check on the oil holes before the final install.
Hell, who knows I may get this car to the track yet.
I thought the oil holes were supposed to point towards the valves, or outside of the engine? But Meep Meep is saying they point towards the push rods? I may have to turn mine around. I guess I'm still unclear on this. But makes sense if they point toward the inside of the engine, or push rod side, gravity will make the oil flow down into the rocker arm pivot area. What does the factory service manual say?
“Install rocker shafts so that the 3/16” diameter rocker arm lubrication holes point downward into the rocker arm, so that the 15 degree angle of these holes point outward towards the valve end of the rocker arms”
The shafts are the same and need to be carefully assembled side to side, fore to aft, in order insure the 15 degree off-set rocker lubrication holes are positioned as originally engineered and is clearly specified in all the factory service manuals of the time. Assembled incorrectly will lead to premature rocker/rocker shaft failure, I’ve seen it many times.
