Have any of you guys heard anything about having to use SFI certified padding on your rollbars? What's the deal?

Some dude told me that on the phone, I was looking for new 5 point harness, cuz, I think mine are only good till june of this year. And he told me that info for the roll bar also. Thanks for the info SSR.

you'll need roll bar padding wherever your head could touch. you dont need sfi approved unless its a funnycar cage. i have none in my 3 cars but the black dodge has a 25.5 funny car cage so i have the sfi padding. hope this helps.

There is padding on the drivers side, but none on the passenger side, and I know I don't need it over there, but I just wanted to even it out. I think it would make it look better.
Thanks SuperStockRacer!

Dad picked up some of the new SFI padding...(what a crock of crap that stuff is hard as a rock) I told him instead of putting it in now, keep it and wait until someone makes you put it in.
I didn't hear about the funny car cage deal so we don't need it then, that's cool!

I swear NHRA making laws just to make laws.... just like the government.

NHRA is a business and a big business that is paid for by sportman racers who never get anything in return. I am all for safety and we need to have safe cars that protect us and the guy in the next lane. SFI is a scheme to sell parts. My friend has a small airplane that has the same seat belts it came with. I can lift my car with the 3 year old belts I just replaced.
Hey...Drag Racing is an expensive sport and if you going to play...you got to pay.
Sorry to go off...But I just got to put in my 2 cents worth.

NHRA is not a business, according to the IRS they are a 501-C5 non profit car club. I guess NHRA and GE have something in common. LOL
You're right it is an expensive sport, that's why NHRA should be looking for ways to cut racers cost and keep saftey. IF they keep going the way they are going they will hafe fewer and fewer racers to fill the lanes at the local tracks.
