This on a 63 belvedere ,Getting rid of surface rust underneath roof and notice the strips that goes between roof and roof supports fell apart . What is good replacement for strips ? Don't won't to use rubber . Thanks

I used to foamy drawer liner crap you get for tool boxes. Not the perforated stuff that's in the kitchen drawers, I mean the 1/8"-1/4" thick foam stuff. Worked like a charm.

I use roofing tar paper for the roof rib support and the fuel tank isolators. I bought a roll of the thickest one I could find years ago and I still have plenty. Use the leftover remains of the originals for a dimensional template and cut with a straight-edge and a Stanley knife. Make sure you have extra blades but try to layout and make cuts on a large piece of plywood or something other than your driveway or garage floor! Remove the staples by hand and reuse them. It's the easiest way since the holes in the metal rib are already there. Think ahead.

Here are two center ribs restored and finished with etch primer and the tar paper isolators installed. For the 62-63 B-bodies, if you are going from a hard board headliner to a cloth headliner, you are going to need a center rib like the ones shown that have the plate to install the dome light.
