Seeing all the other restorationthreads in this forum kinda inspired me to start my own. Keep in mind im Norwegian, so my english isn't perfect :icon_viking:

Here is what i started with. A 69 post car, bought on ebay from Oregon. According to previous owner it had beent sitting in a garage for 15 years or so. There are some rust issues to deal with, but not to bad. 383, automatic.

Needs replacing rusted metal in:
- floor
- quarter
- trunk
- back window corners
- engine bay (battery mount)
- +++

Started the project about half a year ago, have not gotten as far as i should. Teardown completed (most of it) and bodywork ongoing. This is not going to be an original restoration, it is not a numbers matching car. It will be built according to my own ideas and what i like. Just as a heads up

As you can see i have some work to do over the next years. Feel free to throw all the tips/tricks and nice-to-know stuff at me, i need all the help i can get :icon_viking:

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking project.

Best advice I can give is start by reading through the member's projects threads, lot's of great 68-69 B-Body projects to learn from.

Enjoy the process, be prepared to spend money, have fun! If you get frustrated, take a break. Most of all, enjoy the journey!

Your car is about the same as mine when I started on it. Get as much rust off as you can before you put anything back on. Use a wire brush, grinder, sand blaster (if available) or do it by hand with course grit paper. What you can't get off, find some rust neutralizer. Glad to see another 69 being brought back to life.

Hi Viking/Vinking, nice bit of work ahead of you. At least you know you have a start on it. Does it run, or will that be part of the plans?

Opps, supposed to be Viking, any way to change that?
Does not run, but do have engine and trans. Going to rebuild the engine if i find it useable, but are focusing on the bodywork/rust Repair for now.
Hoping to get epoxy primer on the engine Bay by the end of the week :)

Welcome to the forum Viking! Cool project! All those areas of rust are pretty common on these cars, and you're off to a good start with the patch work. Keep it up :icon_thumleft:

Nice car, looks like a good starter to me. Easiest thing to do is just ask questions as you get to them, I've found the guys here to be very helpful in a pinch especially with the collective knowledge of so many. Congrats on a cool car.

Small update

Just a quick update on the project. Not much done, the weather here this summer has been incredible, so i have been spending most of my time doing outside work.
But now the winter is coming, so its time to get started again.

Going to clean up the engine compartment some more, but laid an epoxy primer on it for now. Not to happy with the result, had an old siphon gun of cheapest sort that i think did not do the job well (although it is most likely my skills that are missing:head_smack:), spitting paint all over the place:eusa_wall:. So i bought some new ones:happy3:

I have started working on the trunk lid, wich was in a bad shape. Gonna try rescue it, make it as good as i can. I think it will turn out good enough to start off with, then maybe get a new one later when fundings are better. really expensive to ship larger items across.

Pretty rusted

Somebody f***ed it up once, probably didn't have the key

Decided to cut out the inner structure rather than separating it from the skin, think i made a mistake doing that.

Got some of the patchwork done

More updates will come during the next weeks!

I like the idea of trying to save the trunk lid. Might as well take a shot at it!
