While most of you would see this as elementary I have the need to be able to move the car while having the dash and dash harness out of the car for repair and rebuilding. Took some time reviewing prints and what to do so I figured this would help with a bit of guidance for some.

The one caveat I say is the online overall may be enough but the service manual break out prints worked far better .
This may apply to other years with some basic understanding of automotive wiring.

I did use the old ignition switch but with a bit of creativity you could do it with jumpers from the battery and plug them in as needed to start car.

There are 5 colored wires that I needed to get back into the harness based on the schematics. I basically looked at where the ignition switch fed into the bulkhead connectors. I also reference the colors and size to help me.

If I get this right power from the battery comes into the switch on the-
Red-Battery
Yellow- Start signal to starter
Black- Accessory Feed to harness but also functions as a return to leg back to alternator but not as a ground.
Brown - Ignition Start
Blue - Ignition Run\
I believe both send power to coil/ignition once switch is operated in either start or run position.

So I had to get power from battery on bulkhead connector to Y/Starter, and Brn/Ignition Start on startup then feed battery to B/ignition run, Blk/Accessory and Blue/Ignition run after engine has run. As you can see I just used a 2 to 1 blade connector off the ignition run to "temp" power my fuel pump relay.

Nice writeup.

I have the whole dash out of ine as well as the most of the engine harness.

I simply wired a hot through a toggle switch between the battery and ballast, and ballast and the coil, and I have one of those $15 remote starter pustol grip switches on the battery and solenoid.

Doesn't charge the battery (I use a maintainer) but moves it in and out of the garage and around the yard.
