So after a few weekends installing my engine and rebuilt trans I finally was able to fire it up. I have a book on order for all of the timing specs so today I was going off how the other engine was set-up (383 1968 Bee). Before I pulled the engine I set it on number one comp stroke and marked the dist. I then installed it after setting on number one comp stroke on the installed engine. I had to turn the dist counter clockwise until the vac hit the intake for the engine to fire. It revs good but idles rough. Any ideas?

Again sorry for the dumb questions but not having my book and no computer at the time I could not look anything up. I think I should check for any vac leaks around the carb, just thought of that. I also could not make out the numbers for my timing mark but could make out the lines so which one should I be close to?

I will look up the info for the firing order on the cap and for the engine but if anyone has them that would be great. Thanks again for all of the help. Jim

18436572 is the firing order, get a timing light and a vacuum gauge hooked up and set the timing. Should be all there is too it.
