Sad day around here

It's a sad day around here or should I say a sad couple of years, I had to sell my 383/479 0.40" over 383 w/billet Callies 4.15" stroker, Eagle H beam 6.76" Rods, Venolia 11:1 flat tops zero deck Pistons, Zero gap rings, custom Roller, oil pump pan & girdle, that I had in my current 68 HT RR... I kept the Eddy RPM 84cc milled & mildly ported heads, a old Crane 0.500/0.520 hydr. roller, my old trick 6bbl set-up completely re-tuned, MP valve covers & Crane super gold 1.6:1 roller rocker & HD shaft, custom length 3/8" cup & ball Smith Brothers push rods for a small base circle roller camshaft & a MP ADJ dist. & Chrome Box, I installed all the components on my original 68 balanced 383/390ci w/0.40" over {heavy}10.5:1 Speed Pro pistons 0.050" down in the hole, Zero gap rings, chamfered & polished Clevite tri-metal bearings, Cloyes true double roller & roller cam button, MP chrome cover MP alum. w/p housing & Proform elect. 37gpm water pump stock pan & windage tray, with new Mellings oil pump... The car runs great, I'm sure it's probably 100+ less HP & TQ, but It's a sad time here in Budnicks garage, I had to sell my other 68 HT RR {kind of race car} about 14 months ago for $28k it ran 9.77et @ 135mph w/383/479 6bbl & 8.58et @ 156mph with a single 1050 4bbl & N20 plumbed spray bar kit Caltracs & MT drag radials @ 3520lbs, because of money issues & now my new short block {well kind of new, I built it the same time I built the other 1 in my other car} of my new engine never got to even race it yet, it would have been milder less cam & heads, no N20, I had no money either way... Freaken Downturn Economy, hardly any business... I'm not looking for any sympothy, I'm just telling my tale, I figured if I could vent here a little, it might ease the pain a little bit... I have some 68 RR, steering, suspension & brake parts & some misc. engine parts, "FOR SALE", I tried to put the list here it keep saying file too big & I'm not going to re do the whole list... PM me with your e-mail address, if your interested & I can e-mail you a list of the parts available...

Sorry to hear this bud. Seems most everyone is having problems and money seems to be the main source of it.. It isint going to make you feel any better but its something thats affecting most all. Ive known of the parts you have been trying to sell and have told others here, problem is there is not many where im at or those i know with b bodies, most are in the a body world, but if i hear of anyone ill let you know but im sure you know this anyway, you never know one of these guys with the a bodys might know someone. Quick as i can get south to a parts store ill be talking to one ill be sure to mention it maybe you'll get lucky, Good luck, nothing wrong with venting!

Retirement

Sorry to here that, I wish you well, good luck finding something I know it's hard even at my age also... I really shouldn't complain too much I pretty much retired at 38 & just kind of went racing & golfing & dabbled in construction projects to keep from draining my investments & savings, now at 52 I cant seem to get anything going, I always made decent money until 2006 or so, Pops health & economy started to spiral down in Rancho Murieta were I was living at the time, my golf business was suffering after 9/11 just started to turn it around, then the current economy pretty much killed it, I have sold a ton of stuff I had kept for many years never thought I would sell, sold for living expenses, property taxes, fund other projects & home improvements etc., at least I own my house outright, my Pops has decent dividend income so stuff is getting paid, I just hate not being able to be productive, having to sell crap to not have to take money out of saving... I just needed to vent some, I know people here get it "the love of cars & parts"... It just sucks, it sucks having to start over so many times :cussing:, I will build another one some day, I didn't get to even take it to the track my own fault too many distractions & procrastination, only drove it on test runs around the neighborhood & down the hill & back a couple of times, it could be a lot worse I'm sure, I still have a great car just not as much power & I knew you guys would relate....

"This thread is starting getting way off track", I don't want to turn this into a political thread, "I can't blame everything on them", sometimes life just happens.... But I will say, I kind of like some of his ideas, but I don't think he will last though, it's just too early to tell, I for 1 would like to see someone with military experience & a successful business experience, in office to get our country back on track, I personally don't care if they were in politics before I almost think it would be even better if they weren't, we need a strong person with no ties to big lobbyists, or other big union bail out, tax & spend supported type interest & "start drilling" for our own resources, in our own waters & our own land, instead of buying the terrorist supported oil...

Thanks, your too kind, I try to do what I can to help save people some of the hassles I went through while learning, I was helped by many others, mostly guys who were older than me, when I was coming up in the hobby/sport, I believe it should be payed back so to speak, or the hobby/sport will just go away... I wouldn't have been able to do, many of the things I have done at all, with out some very helpful people & old long time racers fabricators, machinists etc., helping me learn how to do stuff coming up in the hobby/sport, I like to pass the knowledge that I have learned on to the next generation or at least someone "who wants to learn from my experiences & is open to suggestions"...

It is a load of crap when you have to sell what you work so hard to obtain. I just closed my contracting business along with 3 other guys I know. We built some amazing structures and have some great credentials but that doesn't matter these days. People are too concerned with using the cheapest options around, even if they are operating illegally! Luckily I am now working for a company I formerly have done work for and they have lots of future work (a few years at least). God has still provided in these dark times for me/ us.
I had to sell a few of my cars as well (1968 4sp roadrunner, 1973 340 'cuda, and a 1970 panther pink 340 4sp 'cuda.). The 'cud's didn't hurt nearly as bad as the Roadrunner but maybe someday one will come back around.
I'm saddened for all you guys that are forced to sell your beloved cars and parts just to keep treading water.... and food on the table. Sure wish the high roller bankers, CEOs and politicians would have to make the same decisions we all have to!! But they'll probably just raise our taxes, steal more from social security, and take away funding from our men and women of the armed services so they can collect enough money so they won't have to.
OOPS..... I had a rant myself, almost got away from me!
Just know you are all better people than the ones that have put us here.
