hey gang,
a few months ago i have posted a topic because i was looking for a crossramsetup for my savoy;
today i got a responce through e-mail: one way or another..i think it is fishy,
what do you think? Sincerly, Marcel

"Thanks for the reply, here are some photos of Radiators for you to make your choice, and also a photo of the complete cross-ram in perfect shape and condition. Am asking $150 for the Rads and $1230 for complete crossram including shipping to you. Do send me an e-mail of your complete shipping address and phone# if you are still interested in getting it.

Regards,
Williams Jerkinson"

Good question:
"Phishing" is highly technical. it attacks "everyone in general"
"Spear Phishing " targets "groups".
This reply you received could be harmless.
My suggestion to you is: ask for sellers phone number then call them AND do NOT give out too much personal info. You will need to communicate specific info such as home address for shipping etc. Always use a United States Postal Service Money order because it can always be traced.
Are you concerned because the price seems too good?
Do you think the name is peculiar?
OR: does the individual belong to "For B Bodies Only" Forum?
Be cautious but if you dont give too much info out, your safe.

The name seems phony to me!The price is also very low and with shipping to the Netherlands included?too cheap to be on the up and up.

I always find out their state and full adress/phone number and THEN say, hey, my brother lives in the same town you do. Can he just come over and pick it up? He will just bring everything back to the states when he comes home. Usually they don`t respond back to me lol. If they ever would say sure, I would look into it farther. You can usually get a vibe about people.

good logic right there:headbang:

google is your friend!
throw the name and info you get in
and see what comes up!

if you cant talk to them on the phone i would stay clear. dont ever give out any info without knowing who you are talking to. why would someone request an address without sealing a deal. tell them to send you a phone number

Alright, I may sound like a creep, but here's what I do.

-Take the guys IP address from the e-mails he's sent you.
-Look up his IP address' and make sure they correspond to where he's telling you he's from.
-Search the white pages in the area for people by that name. If he's listed, start searching the address' provided.
-With these, you can look up the google street view and google maps sat. images to verify the backround in his pictures.

If you're willing to spend money, you can take the searches even further if necessary. I know it's kind of creepy, but in this day and age, you can't afford to be left with your cyber pants down. I had a scammer that just wouldn't leave me alone once until I provided him with a picture of his home along with detailed info on his Wife and Daughter. You have to protect yourself because no one else will and to a scammer you're just another sucker. He may be completely harmless and real, but if so, he won't mind verifying that for you and he'll understand. Good luck with your purchase!

hey guys, thanks for the tips;
i asked him his adress; he replied. I mailed him that a cousin of mine lived 80 miles from him, if he could pick up the parts.
No responce from his side anymore!!
I will look further for parts, and i will find them sooner or later
thanks again,
sincerely, Marcel
