Correction on the Tires and Cop Wheels I HAD for sale. They are not SOLD. I had so many strokes on them that I decided to put them on one of my own cars. I have sold several parts on this site with 100% satisfaction. If you guys are going to contact a member to buy something PLEASE follow through and stop stroking our members. We try to accommodate the buyer by weighing measuring and find out shipping cost only to have the person never get back to you one way or another. I liken it to a scam in reverse. The idea of a sticky for feedback is a great one.

I agree. I've had several people commit to buying an item and then never hear from them again. Very annoying.

1100 bucks was stupid high for cop wheels with cooper cobras anyway. People are delusional thinkin this stuff is worth that much. I caint believe anybody was crazy enough to "stroke" you about it in the first place. I just laughed when I saw your ad.

I do agree with your overall point though. If someone makes a committment, they should follow through. I've had to back out as a buyer a couple of times myself though, because life got in the way. Lets face it, it does happen. But I was very quick to let the seller know.

And that is after they lowball you on a price.

I think sellers should STFU and be glad they get offers at all in this economy.

Even tho the economy isn't as well as it should be, it's not all that bad for many and if you don't mind waiting a bit, you can usually get a decent price or at least what it's worth. If you price an item too high, you'll know it soon enough. I do agree that for the most part, it's a buyer's market right now but I don't see anything wrong for someone to go 'fishing' for a high price. After all, look at what the Batmobile just got sold for! Dang. As for lowballers, I get my fair share too but I generally do not go fishing....at least not very often. Most of the stuff I'm selling is stuff that I want out of my way and there has been several instances where I found that I could have got a lot more for something after it was gone.

When you're right , You're right

not sure about cooper cobras but tires have gotten crazy expensive so it's not just the wheels, even if that's all someone is looking for. He wanted to sell the wheels AND tires which were both in excellent condition.

also weird how the second URL and your comment didn't show up in the thread until i hit reply with quote ... is FBBO acting up?

just realized you must have been editing it while i was getting ready to reply

Cooper Cobras are like the cheapest white letter tires you can buy. about 540 for four 275 60 15s from Summit right now. Those looked smaller than 275 60 so they'd be even cheaper. Even with mounting and balancing, that means the wheels would have been almost 500. That's ludicrous. I can put my hands on 15x8 cop wheels right now for 150 bucks.

Exactly, so who was really trying to scam? It can cut both ways.

I was just checking Craigs list and had FBBO tab open and just happened to see the ads. I thought it was weird that I saw the ads right after seeing this thread. I just had to post them .
One thing I've come to realise since getting back into this , Uh, " Hobby " The prices are all over the place. and there's a buyer for everything. Eventually.

offer it for a fair price here or put in on fleabay . its a hassle to weigh and ship... i box stuff up and take it to the pack and ship. get a price to the farthest place from me( i use chico calli.) and use that for my shipping cost. if someone balks it goes to ebay and i got shipping and pics already done. maybe a buyer score should be added to warn sellers to go with the trader score.

yeah i just checked and they are cheap. I just bought tires for my 2008 Impala and my son's 2008 Honda, Bridgestone Turanzas supposedly top of the line and they were like $750 a set mounted with lifetime balance and rotation. I think i should start buying tires from Amazon or another discounters and just getting them mounted and balanced from now on!

did you see my edit comment :) ?

also cuncur with bolded, i had got away from actively following the "hobby" myself for about 10 years and have had a real eye opening to a lot of prices and fluctuations. One thing for sure sheet metal has gone CRAZY high but i understand they aren't making any more of most of it and what they are repopping is obviously going to have to be at a premium to warrant the mfrs investment.

New Cop wheels are $133 + $29 shipping each = $162 x 4 = $648. Coopers which Summit sell a lot of and recommend are $570. Mounting and balancing $20 x 4 = $80. I glass beaded them primed and painted with top of the line PPG. Primer was $42 a pint and the Black $68 + hardener and reducer. NOS poverty caps the last time I checked were $330 + shipping. Countless man hours and shop supply's. They were a good buy at $1100.

15X7 are the common ones..............try finding 15X8's So $350 on the west coast $150 to ship anywhere in the country. = $500 add tires mount balance prime and Paint???????????

One way to not get yanked around so much is to post weights and dimensions in the ad. Offer to ship from UPS, FedEx or USPS and give the zip code you're in. Put it on the potential buyers to put forth a little effort on their own to figure out the shipping costs themselves. This way you're not spending all day making calculations for someone who's not even interested enough to do any legwork. When I want/need something bad enough I'll do whatever it takes to get it. A lot of guys on here have a joke in their profile for a town name and/or post ads without telling where they are located. I frequently end up sending PM's asking "The town listed in your profile comes up in 14 different states, can you tell me which state you're in?"

dead-beat buyers & sellers

:iamwithstupid: the game is played by both sides, overpriced & underpaid, or will want the part for next to nothing, then won't want to pay the shipping costs to Bum f--k where ever, but can't find the part in their area, then they always seem to want top dollar for a rusty POS they're trying to sell or trade, won't photograph it or weight it... it makes no sense to me, just outright greed for the most part or just cheapskates & lazy greedy people too...

:iamwithstupid: give them appr. shipping weight & your zip code... they can find a good shipping price if they don't like yours &/or if you want top dollar for your parts, maybe split the shipping costs with the buyer, so it's not such a rip-off... maybe even COD the shipping or parts {I hate that option thou}

I would agree with that 100% were it not for the fact that the OP brought his own for sale ad out into the general forum where everyone can comment on it. I DO agree 100% that money talks and bullshit walks. But, bringing the subject out in the open, one should not expect everyone to be in agreement. Lastly, I don't give a continental damn how much somebody has in something. That's irrelevent. What's revelent is how much someone is willing to pay. Period.

Personally I have two categories of parts. (1) Parts I NEED to finish the restoration - I pay what I have to but still try to get the best deal I can. (2) Parts I want for cool factor, more performance etc...these parts I will throw out a lowball offer on. YES I said it LOWBALL its the way its done guys, if you say yes the first time I throw a price out I screwed up...it means I overpaid. I don't have an unlimited budget, so if I can get a deal on these parts I'll buy, if they are "normal" price then I'm going to walk away....simple as that.

If you can't handle a lowball offer then maybe you shouldn't be selling things, we all want something for nothing. Now my lowball is within reason, its never 40% of value or something like that, but I am not afraid to offer $200-250 for a suregrip 489 case w/3.55 gears....that's all I am willing to pay for it.

I get low ball offers and when I don't bite I say thanks for lookin.
