I was cleaning up the interior floor on the GTX and noticed some dum-dum coming off.
Can anyone recommend a good product to use to cover the seams that are now exposed? Will silicone work?

3M or SEM Brushable seam sealer will work well for replacing factory sealer. For fine seams, seam sealer in a tube/caulk gun will do the trick.

SEM makes a black seam sealer 39777 I believe is the part#.It is inexpensive and works very well. You can spread it and brush it.3M makes a caulk that comes in a foil pack and will match the factory seam sealer better. You can build this product much higher and fill larger voids with it.I don,t remember the part# off hand.Hope this helps.

I am going to paint the interior floor on the GTX in order to protect it. Should I remove all the old dum dum, paint, then apply the new sealer.

Or just leave the old dum dum that sticked, then apply the new sealer, and then paint over all of it?

I would either use POR 15 or rustoleum.

I would just remove the loose stuff or any area corrosion is.Clean up the rust and spray some epoxy prime down then caulk and top coat.POR15 must be top coated,it is not a finish product. It is a primer if you would call it that.Epoxy prime,caulk,por15,then topcoat with rustoleum or a finish of choice.

Myself, I would take it all out.......God know's what is hiding under that stuff. If found plenty of rust under old seam sealer on my current and past projects. If there is any rust underneath, better to find in now and remove it than have it come back and haunt you down the road.
