I was wondering if you guys could help me identify the seats in my friend's Newport? There was a tag attached to the bottom of the seat which had this on it: 2888607-k 4-8-68 CAD1Z. Here are some pictures:

Your first post dated 31 March 2016: part# help

"I have a friend who has a 1967 Newport. It does not have the original seats and he is trying to figure out what they are out of. There was a tag hog ringed under the seat with 2888607 on it. Is this a valid part#? If so could someone help me identify the seat?
Thanks "

My reply is:
I personally do not think that part number on the "Hog ring tag" is a seat part number "grubby65"

-That being said, I'm glad you posted a picture.
To me it looks like a later style seat because of the Head Rest.

Hopefully someone else will chime in on this one to help you and your friend.

Here is a pic of a 67 Newport's front seats:

As Moparcrazy states, the Head Rests didn't come into play until later

Head rests were OPTIONS in 1966 and 1967, as well as 1968 cars built before January 1, 1968. At that point, they were a Federally-mandated part.

Those seats were built on April 8, 1968 (4-8-68 on the tag).

Does he plan on leaving the seats and console in the car? Hope he does, because you could order a bucket seat interior WITH console, even on a four-door "C"-body back then.

Yes, he plans on leaving the seats in the car. He would like to order new foam for them. That is why he is wanting to know what they came out of so he can get the right stuff.
