I'm going to have my Super Bee bench seat recovered and I recently purchased the seat medallions to go with it. The medallions can with a two posts on the back, I presume there is some kind of back plate and hardware to keep them in place. What am I missing?

Those medallions do require back plates. Are the studs threaded? You could make your own backplates, and if the studs are not threaded, you can use self cutting nuts. Good luck

Thanks for the info, no the studs are not threaded and I can make a back plate. I'll look into the self cutting nuts.

You need the backing plate. It is larger than the medallion and provides stability, spreading the contact area further. If you use self thearded nut, you take a chance if the medallion shifting and ripping or the pulling through the vinyl.

It would be nearly impposible to make the backing plates yourself without metal stamping equipment. They ate long and narrow like the medallion but recessed in the middle so whem the medallion is pushed into the seating materioal the "sink" into the recess.

Just make a a steel plate shorter and narrower than the medallion and call it good.

I have 3 of these used medallions. one still has the backing plate. If interested I would sell the 3 for $75.00. 2 of them have broken studs on the back. Many people are installing these by simply super gluing them to the seat material because the backing plates are so hard to find and most of the used medallions have broken studs.

yep that what i did on my 69 hemi Roadrunner. the idiot restoration shop never put them on before attaching the vinyl covers to the seat, i just siliconed them on after i put the holes into the seat cover. been there for 5 years with no issues.

Thanks for all the feed back. I did find a picture of the back plates, so I have an idea on what to do. My neighbor has a metal fab shop and I'll see what he can do.
