Hi. I want to remove the seat tracks on my 1967 buckets. Problem is the bolt is flat and round. Is there a special tool for removal or am I better off just drilling them out. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would think that there is a nut in the underside of the seat frame itself that allows them to be unbolted

X2. That's how it is on my 1970. Crawl under the car and take a look.

He is not trying to remove the seat from the car, but the slider track from the seat. As you have discovered the nut is welded to the seat frame and as stated the bolts have a large diameter flat head the $100 dollar question how to remove the bolts? Do they have a recessed hex drive head? I have not seen these in flat head, have seen a few button head. You should be able to remove them with an allen wrench or hex wrench. I have seen then riveted but you stated there are nuts welded to the seat frame.

I got what he was saying, but I've never seen where the nuts are welded to the bolt.

I'll have to go down and see how they are pn my 71/72 tracks, because I got the buckets off those tracks. Odd...

If I recall correctly, there is one nut and one bolt. You have to slide the seat track full one direction and pull the bolt out from the track side (hex head...3/8 or 7/16" I believe), and you can reach up under the seat and take the nut out from the seat side on the other end. There should be a nut welded to the seat frame, and a nut welded to the seat track.

dsd1967 you maybe correct on this anyway my 68 FSM shows what you are describing and the procedure would be the same. I have also seen the flat ones but can not remember what year or from what vehicle the removal was the same just a different tool. Unfortunately I do not have a 67 FSM and it has been 40 years since doing this to a 66 model.
