Due to circumstances beyond my control I have been forced to sell items to pay bills. I have never sold anything large that needed to be shipped. And I have no idea about shipping larger items. What I'm thinking about selling is a set of bumpers for a 71 Roadrunner. I've also got some wheels we tried to sell local with no luck. I'M NOT SELLING IN THIS THREAD. Just looking for advice.
My questions are: is it hard to ship items like these? They are larger items and the bumpers are quite heavy. Some of you all ship stuff like this all this time and hoping you could share some knowledge or tips.
How do I go about determining a price for the bumpers? They were bought a while ago and still in plastic.

Please do not attempt to make offers or ask what my prices are. This thread is only for advice. If we decide to sell, there will be a post in the "For Sale" section.

If this should be in another section, could a mod please move it?

FedEx is way cheaper then ups or USPS on larger bulky items. You can set up your own shipping account online too.

I have shipped almost anything, lol...

Best way for new or rechromed bumpers is to wrap individually(like bubble wrap but cardboard)with large boxes and double wrap the ends. They are within the ground size restrictions. I would compare quotes between fedex and UPS online only and create a label online only, then drop off....you pay more in shipping cost doing it at the store locations.

As far as price...hmmmm....thats tough. Where was is chromed, is it AMD(cheap chrome), NOS, etc....I would say if you paid say(just an example) 1k including shipping for a rechromed set...chances are you would be lucky to recoup 60% off that with shipping. Thats for a nice set.......or you get lucky and someone needs a set bad but thats the gamble...

So I would base it off of what you paid and shoot around 70% of that price with shipping. Bumpers are not an easy selling items because most buyers either do their own or they want to inspect first prior to purchase and that is why you can lose a lot on those items, sometimes....

my 2 cents

I ship a lot of stuff also FedEx is the only way to go and you have to set up a account (very easy to do) and you will save a bunch of money. if you just take it to FedEx it will cast a lot more.

I shipped some fiberglass parts Greyhound freight. They were the cheapest of anyone.
Oversize boxes couldn't go fedex or ups.

Bumpers are not oversized freight.....

Fastened is very good and reasonably priced. Just wrap and box well done.
