1969 Charger unveiling yesterday at the 2017 SEMA Show was by the Ring Brothers at the BASF booth. It was there that they pulled the cover back to reveal “Defector”, a 1969 Dodge Charger owned by Erlend Christoffersen. This car may have a stock appearance, but it is anything but stock. The front wheels have been moved forward, the trunk area has been shortened a few inches, rockers extended, and the rear wheel wells were enlarged. Mix those changes with chrome plated accents by Advanced Plating for a dynamic muscle car

I think it looks great, but confused by the wheel modifications? Can someone school me on that?

Wanna-be kinda A/FXer? Looks good though.

I like the elimination of the rectangular corner markers.

I like it, love the colors, like the stance,
nice clean build, nice interior, for a custom...
Bumpers look like they are tucked in too...
Has a chin spoiler too, nice addition...
Has a nicely done finished trunk, with gray tweed it looks like...
Front fenders looks like they have a much more
"pronounced arch" to them too, almost gen 3 Charger look
especially from the full side views...

What's the drivetrain, engine, trans, rear etc. ?
I googled it, it has a gen 3 392 Hemi

I wonder why they moved the front wheels/alt wheel base forward ?
If they did it for shits & giggles just to be different ?
or because of some engineering reasons ?
I'm sure the weight/CG balance is near 50% frt, 50% rear now thou...
I bet it'll handles like a dream...

It looks good in photos, I'd like to see it in person...

I'm not crazy about the wheel selection, but that's my pet peeve...

Whooops, not street legal w/o side markers?

RB stuff is usually too custom for my taste but that thing is bad ***, very cool. Doesn't come of as overly customized even though it is.

Nice, but why in hell does everyone think 20"+ wheels are the thing to do? 18max. I have 17's on my GTX to clear the calipers and they look pretty balanced. Those 20's just don't work for me. The car is a beauty, wonder what the transmission is?

I agree... Looks wheels from a gangbangers hoopty.

Nope, it looks stupid. Just goes to show you cannot improve the Mona Lisa........ Who told these guys that would be a good idea? The whole body looks like it was assembled from rejected AMD parts.

I prefer the factory body styling. This one looks odd...

That car is very disappointing. Some builds have reversible mods that can be UNdone to end up with a decent car. Not so with this one.
The original body proportions of the 68-70 Charger are pure automotive design excellence. The lines flow, the panels blend and the car looks as if a cockpit was laid over a swoopy body. People that take it upon themselves to screw with the body of these cars needs a few sessions with a therapist.
The quarter panels were shortened. Why ??? You might as well have your cock shortened because it makes just as much sense. The front wheel openings were moved forward. Again, WHY ??? They stated they did that to "correct" the long overhang that these cars had. NEW cars have their wheels further to the ends than before but old cars had that classic overhang. Look at how stubby a new Challenger front end looks compared to a 70-74 model. The rocker panels extended: This makes the car look taller/thicker in the middle. Again, compare this to how a new Challenger looks against an old one. New cars need to comply with a myriad of safety and crash regulations. These classics were built with a different set of standards.
Now the wheels.....Apparently these are actually 19" aluminum wheels painted to resemble steel wheels. I do not understand the interest in painted wheels with the dog dish hubcaps. To me that is for Taxicabs, Police cars and municipal fleet cars.
I like the interior. It is tastefully done and not too far from stock.
In 2006, Steve Strope built a NASCAR-esque 68 Charger for George Poteet. The car was white with red stripes and had several NASCAR styling cues integrated in it. The body was stock for the most part. It looked fantastic because it took an already perfect design and made only slight changes to it.

Those boys do some extremely nice work but why ruin such .Perfect car ! There is nothing you can upgrade in a 68-70 charger besides suspension and drive line. What they did was take someone s money and tried to modify this car they couldn't think of anything so they just started hacking at it so they could show were the owners money went! I would be so furious if that is what was given back to me after I'm sure a $100000+ check was wrote
Attention car modifiers out there please stay away from Mopars only Mopars guys know how to modify these cars ,please stick with the crappie chebys and fords they need all the help they can get .

Like some things about it, don't like things about it. Those front wheels just don't look good I think part of it's the offset to put wider tires on front, reminds me of the old front drive Tornado's. I like rears ok and the redlines. Like the color combo and interior. Not crazy about some of the body mods.

I kinda expected more from them...its nice but not their best, I can live with the back wheels but the fronts are terrible!

Front wheels look like modern donut spare tires. Wrong looking offset all the way around.

Maybe they should try to make an AMC Javelin look better...

You can tell that the wheel center on the front wheels is further outboard, making that ugly hubcap stick out noticeably further than the rear. Bad styling result and something they should have noticed before rolling the car out for public view.

And where are the rear lower valence triangles? What the heck!
