Text from FABO:

Welll guys I’ve had quite ride the past few months. Started toward the middle February. Got Flu A and wa pretty sick. Started feeling better however the wife got real sick and ended up in the hospital with double puenmonia. One evening after visiting my wife I decided to grab a bite to eat at a local. Midway during the mea I started feeling quizze so I headed home. About 0200 the next morning I started montezumas revenge from both ends. Real sick. By early morning it subsided and I fell asleep. Suddenly the doorbell rang and I jumped up to answer it. Big mistake. I took a few steps and down I went. Vertigo. I do remember my head hitting the floor. After a bit of time I managed to get back on the couch. I called my granddaughter and asked her to come over. Thinking it was food poiening I called the restaurant where I ate and talked to the manger. I then called 911. The paramedics showed and did their thing. They loaded me in the ambulance and off we went. They weee super busy with me. I noticed they had the jump start kit out so this can’t be good.

Anyway after that my mind is blank. Just remember the talking but that’s all
Apparently they took me for a CT scan and while I was in the tube I threw up, and aspirated. They took life saving measures and performed CPR for two minutes, I was revived and since Inhad fluid in my lungs I was put on a ventilator for four days. I was sedated after that. I do remember my son and granddaughter buts still foggy. I finally woke up in the ICU. I was transferred a few says later to the Stroke floor. Apparently in all this I had several strokes. My right arm was swollen because of fluid retention so the had me on IV Lasix. I peeded myself multipule times. ICU took out the carth. I was in that floor for seven days. They did an evaluation and it was decided they would send me to a rehab hospital. I was a mess, couldn’t stand or walk. This thing kicked my [censored].

After 23 days of rehab I’m at my sons place where he’s been helping my wife. I’m getting home health care.

Oh, when I was wretching out both ends it turns out it was mostly blood. Turns out I also had bleeding ulcers so the gastric doc took care of them. Turns out I took 3 units of blood.

Thanks for passing this on to those of us who aren't on the other site.

Wow! Glad to hear that you and your wife are recovering. Praying that you'll both recover quickly and be able to resume regular activities soon.

My wife had a significant heart health scare 12 yrs ago now. Dr's and nurses didn't think she'd walk out of the hospital at first. Thankfully she proved them wrong. The point here is that that event was a serious wake up call to re-center our priorities and make some lifestyle changes. She has lost and kept off over 50lbs through diet and exercise and is healthier now than she was 25 yrs ago even with all the additional meds.

My advice is to follow the Dr's orders and get healthy again. Hopefully there isn’t significant permanent damage and you recover quickly.

Dart4forte’s name is John. I dont know him that well but what limited time I’ve been around him, he is a good guy. He has gone out of his way to help others, a trait the few others have. I recall that he was doing some restoration of seat belts for Mopar friends. I’d see him in Van Nuys during the Spring Fling events too.
Sudden heath scares like this are very upsetting to those directly affected as well as those closely related. It is helpful to maintain contact with others as we get older so that help is closer to us.
John I wish you and your wife the best, I hope that you improve and get back to your daily routines as soon as possible.
Thanks buddy

Horrible series of events. I wish you and your wife a speedy recovery.

Get well! Thoughts and prayers coming your way. You probably don’t remember me but we had lunch with Tom (AMX guy - you bought it a while back believe) 20 something years ago and I had my 67 Belvedere. I remember you giving me a 383 hood ornament to replace my 318 ornament after her repower.

Oh, I remember. How have you been?

Just now discovered this thread. @dart4forte (John), I feel ya man - I've had bleeding ulcers from both the
duodenal and esophogeal valve areas for going on 40 years now and yeah, I've flatlined a few times from them.
Luckily, I have a really hard skull...they don't make bionic valves like that, so the bleeding never ends, but at least
it's a known issue now, so I just toss it in the bucket with all the other inbred maladies. :)

Big Prayers to both you and your wife for speedy, safe and comfortable healing!! :praying::praying:

Oh, I remember. How have you been?

Our Prayers are sent. Hoping for a full recovery for both you and your wife.
