Has anyone figured out how to silence the ring-a- ding bell sound on the automatic shifter?
I used to hear a bell ring every time my tranny shifted too ... turned out it was from my head slamming against the head rest.

Glad to see you guys are having fun with this. I didn't know how else to describe this noise but I'll give it another shot.Maybe a lot of angels are getting their wings.

The button that you depress to change gears on the automatic shifter is rattling against it's housing making a ringing bell sound. The housing is the chrome ''grip'' of the shifter knob. I've taken it apart, sprayed the spring and inside the grip with rubber dip, still ringing, driving me crazy. When I'm driving I keep my thumb on the shifter to stop the noise. There has to be a better way.
The car is a '66 Charger with a torqueflight.
