Inland shifter knob, someone said it screwed off. I’ve tried but can’t get it to turn, even tried a pipe wrench. Think they glued it? I don’t want to tear it up since it’s original, any ideas?
How do you not tear it up using a pipe wrench?Inland shifter knob, someone said it screwed off. I’ve tried but can’t get it to turn, even tried a pipe wrench. Think they glued it? I don’t want to tear it up since it’s original, any ideas?
Kinda smoothed them over, just gripped it a little. I’m thinking one of the strap type filter tools might workHow do you not tear it up using a pipe wrench?
Sounds like a plan, I’ll have to get that finger thing off too to get the new boot on.View attachment 1063360
This is a pic of one, but it doesn't show the threads. I have black tape on them. Mine does unscrew. I would suggest wrapping the knob with a few rounds of heavy duct tape. (I highly recommend the Gorilla tape brand.) Then use the wrench if necessary...
Ouch!Well this happened, now got to find another handleView attachment 1063383.
Be careful. Once you pull the reverse lockout off of the cable, it's about impossible to get it back in place. That's what happened to me. I couldn't get it back together. The pic I posted earlier is the original from my car, which I am keeping as a possible spare. And many years ago, it was easy to find used ones, so I just bought a whole handle and installed it.Sounds like a plan, I’ll have to get that finger thing off too to get the new boot on.
