I recieved my Calvert mono-leaf springs yesterday. The box was all smashed up and the springs were hanging half way out of the box. WTF ! Im so freakin pissed off... and there was a shipping label wrapped aroung the springs as they were hanging out of the box !

I called Calvert Racing today. They said they have had a long time dispute with UPS over this issue. They put a shipping label on the springs incase they fall out of the box. They used to fill the boxes with popcorn but UPS bitched when a box would rip open and theyre warehouse floor was littered with little foam balls ! So now they use boxes that supposed to have 275lb breaking strength, but continue to recieve calls about people recieving torn up boxes..... Atleast nothing was damaged or missing !

Its good nothing was damaged or missing... Ive only had one instance where a package from UPS was damaged and pretty good to, one i never ordered anything from before and asked others and was told the same. I tend to think its how each seller packages them.. depends a lot if it happens.

I feel your pain man, I hate receiving bashed up boxes but let me say this, shipping leaf springs is a beeyotch I ordered a set od S/S springs for a 72 Challenger once and I believe mine were both taped together and had some scratches and scrapes but being what they are, akward and heavy and add to the fact UPS really likes to throw boxes around ( UPS stands for left see how far we can throw it UP!)

Calvert Racing needs to do a packing study to find out the best way to package there products. I was in charge of one for a company I worked for, buy the time I was through you could toss the boxes from the second floor level without damage to the ceramic sinks inside. We did this for every style of sink we had. Yeah, it took time and money but in the long run it was worth it.

UPS seems to be getting pretty careless, seems like every package I get lately they are poked, crushed, and torn up!You call them on it and they say it wasn't boxed correctly.I've been using postal mail more so far no problems also a little cheaper! Up to 70#s can be mailed.

I work in the packaging industry and there are extremely good ways to package most anything so it doesn't get damaged. UPS (and all shipping companies) can only ship what's brought to them--they don't re-package. If you're shipping leaf springs, a proper sized carton with the proper liner and what's referred to as "foam-in-place" will get them delivered without a scratch! I received an aluminum cross-ram intake manifold from A&A Transmission in Indiana via UPS using foam-in-place and it was absolutely perfect.

Shame on Calvert Racing!!!

The packaging could be alot better. 2 heavy leaf springs loose in a big box doesnt end well ! ... I told the lady on the phone that they should fill the boxes with "great stuff" before shipping !!!
