Shock/SS springs

I'd rather restack stock type springs than use SS springs......

Your car has the pin/pin type on the rear.So no eyelets as I call them.I'm not sure where to find longer than stock.I asked around and was told if you contact KYB they might have something you can use.Give them both extended and collapsed length. As far as SS springs you may have to do what Cranky said and have you springs redone using that long main leaf under there. We did a F body and got the SS springs and the extended hanger from Mopar performance. I would check with Mancini or Roseville Moparts for help.If you go with the pro comp conversion Mopar Performance has the longer Eyelet shocks.I'm old and we would just use 70 Chrysler Imperial rears back in the day...

@Darter6

Thanks, but, I think your confusing things. First you state you beileve that I have stud and stud and then make reference to eyelets.

Top is an eye, bottom is a stud. KYB I'll re check but I found only stock replacements and there actually to short on the stock springs. Also to short on my Dakota, but that's a trick and not on topic like the advice on springs.

Springs aren't the issue thank you.

Shocks are the topic & question at hand.

Sorry but you said "shocks AND ss springs....." Your question was about as clear as my reply was.

I guess it is all in how you read it and it seemed clear enough that it was a question on looking for longer shocks.

Sorry I mis spoke and didn't write "with" instead of "and" or "for use with"
Thanks for nothing again.

What's the problem man....you got a thumb up your butt or something?? I always thought we got along ok over the years. Geez

Thanks again for answering my question. You have been a lot of help today.

All hail Cranky!

Then the other thing you can do is replace the rubber iso spring mount with old style "B body u-bolt lower shock plates and use the longer eye/eye shocks. Sorry as I was trying to remember the set up on my 79 B and confused myself.Getting old and senile..
And yes you can make your own SS spring styled after Mopar's design. Or call Mike at Eaton Detroit Springs and they will make them for you.

Sorry I responded in a way that was unsatisfactory to your question....I hope your day goes well.

Thanks. I was just looking for the longer shock. The actual spring is a stock type spring with longer shackles in the rear of the spring. The springs were purchased from espo.com and are patterned after the OE 440/HEMI springs. The car sits very low. Rather than have the springs rebent (the preferred method) longer shackles were used.

The car was in constant use. (Not anymore.) I would still like to drive it the rest of this season. The cheap, quick and easy (temporary) fix is a longer shock.

There is the reason of looking for a longer shock with use of S/S springs.

I don't want to use the older shock plates. Not if I don't have to. It does seem to be the future direction though. I'm not sure that I'll have the car much longer. So traveling that direction is less desirable for me.

IF the car was going to stay, I would like to swing in a 8-3/4. What ever size that would need. But, again, I'm not sure it is going to stay with me.

Thanks Cranky, you have an excellent day yourself! Hope all is well in your land.

Rumble,If you plans change you can use a 71/72 8 3/4 from a B body and it bolts right in. I got one out of a 71 RR and put it under my 75 Charger.

Oh! Thanks. I can never remember that. (UGH!)
How is the '68-'70 fit? I have 2 cores laying around. And a E body core as well.

If it's still possible, NAPA used to have a shock catalog that listed collapsed/extended lengths so you could match up what you wanted. Granted this was decades ago.

Sorry to offend you. Please disregard my above posts.
