ok? what specially do you need help with? Recommendations, I can't help you with. However, some tips.
Take pics of the block before you take it. Make sure to capture the casting number, the vin, the ID pad on top. Take pics of the bores, the head surfaces, the mains. Why? because it'll ensure you get your block back.
2nd. when you drop it off, sit down with whoever is doing it, write up a list of what WILL be done, how much each task is estimated to cost and how long. Have both you and them sign and date it. Keep a copy for you. Id also write the block numbers on that paper too. Also, have them sign a reciept for any and all parts you bring along with it. New pistons, rings, bearings etc.
3rd. When you pick it up, bring a witness with you, check the block over very well, in a well lighted area. Go down the list you'd made when you dropped it off, make sure everything you agreed to was done and done well before paying. Take pics and verify the numbers.
I learned this the hardway. I went to a shop that had a VERY good reputation and was highly recommended. I took my 2 toddlers along when it came time to pick it up, it was raining so the shop had wrapped my block in plastic before i got there, I simply paid, which they charged me DOUBLE what i was quoted originally, and we loaded it up. They'd lost my rods and pistons. Got it home and unwrapped it, guess what, loss of the block, months of time, and a couple grand in cash.
