One of the things I wanted to put somewhere on my Pittsbird Roadrunner was the Iron City Beer bullseye logo from the Pittsburgh Brewing Company, which is pretty iconic to anyone who grew up in the Pittsburgh area, but I couldn't find any for sale. I could find lots of newer bumper stickers and decals, but no vintage ones anywhere.

I sent an email to the PBC explaining what I was doing with the car and to see if they knew where I could at least get some decals, and I got a response saying they thought it was a really cool thing I was doing and they're sending me some 70s-type Iron City bullseye decals to put on the car!

How cool is that? Thanks Pittsburgh Brewing Company!!!!

They were one of the sponsors for a Bass Tournament held on the 3 Rivers back in 84....Braun's was another......and Iron City Beer!

My family hails from Natrona Heights, Nevil Island and Florence so I definitely remember Iron City Beer. I also remember "smoother, keener Augustiner, one of America's two finest beers." How about Bill Cardill on WIIC TV channel 11? I used to watch the horror flicks on Saturday evening hosted by him, but he then called himself "Chilly Billy Cardilly."

Cant beat that! I used to have a few of those now and again after a day with the lawn mower. :)

RED63440, You musta been from the Burg at one time.
Bill Cardill announced wrestling on Saturdays,,, Remember "Ring Side Rosie"
Bruzilla, Thanks ,, you sure brought back the memories !! And all along I thought beer killed brain cells.......Though I do have a hard time remembering what I did today....

Remember Terminal Stare from Chiller Theater? I still have an original Terminal Stare t-shirt from 1978 that's never been worn or washed, and that I've carried with me all over the world when I was in the Navy. A friend got it for me as a going away gift and it was too small, but since it was a gift and a symbol of Pittsburgh, I never got rid of it. Glad I didn't. :)

I have about 30 or so MP3 files of Chiller Theater clips that were recorded by folks back in the 70s and 80s that I listen to every now and again when I get homesick. Hearing Bill Cardille, Sister Susie, Georgette the Fudgemaker, Stephan, and the rest sure brings back memories.

Here's one for you.. The link has several to look thru, ill bet a lot will remember some anyway..

I have a can of IC with the Superbowl XIV team on it. I never drank beer, but I bought a six-pack when I was on leave after the game because I liked the cans. I gave away five of them, but kept one.

I used to carry that one can of beer in my briefcase when I went flying in the Navy, and one day my senior pilot saw it in my briefcase and said "You know you can't have alcohol on the plane! Get rid of that." I said "I've never drunk a beer in my life, but if you ever announce that we're about to crash, ditch, or we have to bailout, I'm slugging that down. So, you promise to never crash the plane and I promise I'll never drink that beer." We never crashed, and that beer, still unopened, is in my display case in the man cave. :)

LOL, thats a good story, and quite a story to tell when others see the can and ask.. Cost to much to drink the stuff now, i try to keep it around for a cool drink-hot day thing but very seldom have one anymore, gos against more of doctors orders lol.. I liked your story though... cool to remember things like that.

That pilot became an admiral, and I ran into him when he was nearing retirement. We hadn't seen each other in about 20 years, but he asked me if I still had that can of Iron City, and I said "you never crashed the plane did you?" :)
