Just curious what people think about deleting the side trim on a '64 Polara. I'm not necessarily worried about total originality and haven't made up my mind if I like the look or not. However, I'm at the point where if I was to fill the holes and delete the side trim, now would be the time to do it.

Here's an example of one that has had the trim removed. What does everyone think?

I would delete the trim. Looks clean.

Personally I like the trim on these cars, to me it is a mark of a long gone era where craftsmanship, and design were were as important and functionality.
On a full blown custom, race car type it doesn't bother me as much, but a restomod, hotrod, I still like to see it.

I like the trim as well just as Mike mentioned above...

The painted bumpers are hideous...

I deleted the side trim on my 64 Sport Fury also. I think it looks a lot better.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion my friend...props too you and your happy with that...it is your car and thats all that matters

I personally do not like it...

Keep the trim unless your going for a custom look. Do what makes YOU happy, it's YOUR car..your opinion is the one that counts in the end. I too, get opinions for stuff I dream up because I never know...it might be a YUGE mistake.

You could paint it on if you don't like the look without the original stuff. I never was a fan of holes in the body that holds all that trim on in the first place but also think the trim looks cool....

Now why would you want to do that? It's artwork as far as I'm concerned, especially the turned metal inserts on the 500 model.

Deleted on my 2006 srt, looks great. Debating it on my 67 but the more I look at it the more I like it. Gives it character, like mike and moparnation said it's a craftsmanship you don't see anymore.

I believe I agree that for a "recreation", or restoration the trim should stay. I was just curious of what everyone thought as I've seen both.

I'm doing a 426 Street Wedge recreation with this car so I'll keep the trim.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

What do you think about painted on trim? I've seen some that looked like it was very real until you were very close and saw that it was painted on....

I vote trim as well. Now if it were a post car........ probably vote the opposite! LOL! Looks great so far. Its your car do what you love!
