Last summer I was having some heat soak issues, probably due to the moonshine in the gas these days, so I installed some 1\4 inch phenolic carb spacers and it seemed to work (we'll see next summer).
Problem is the divorced choke rod is not quite long enough to close off the choke and instead of modifying the rod like some have done (my choke is orig and I'm not going to alter it in any way) I decided to make up some spacers for it.
Now the geometry is correct and it works like it should.
Don't laugh, I am not a fab guy and I did this in my shed at 10 degrees today but it works like a charm.

I used 1/8 x 1.5 inch alum stock from home depot and made 2 pc. to get my 1/4 inch, made pattern from choke well for inside then slipped the choke through and marked the outside.
Surprised that they don't sell them with the carb spacers.

Nice!! I was looking at carb spacers at carlilse last summer. What kind did you get??

the original choke mechanism's were adjustable for length. the aftermarket stuff isn't.

Got got them off e bay with new longer studs included, I wanted to go thicker but couldn't because of the air grabber setup.

The originals are adjustable for lean or rich (open fast or slow when heated) no adjustment for rod length other than bending or straightening.

your correct and i probably should have just said the rod can be raised with the adjustment.

I have the Chrysler six pack setup in my 66' coronet, and got no choke. with it. So, I took one off my 67 318 coronet parts car two barrel, shortened it about a 1/4 inch. It worked perfect! In case you have one lying around.

Now you tell me lol, that's good to know thanks.
I thought the 340 and 440 six pack chokes where the only ones that fit, you learn something new every day.

6 pack choke

Chrysler was so predictable. Same part in as many cars as possible. I only learned of it because I was irritated with having to flood the engine to start it, and the 318 engine was sitting on the floor next to the car..DUH! I'm no six pack expert, I just like how it sounds! and it even flipped closed in the right direction. I suppose Mopar performance wants a hundred bucks or so for theirs. Now that I'm thinking of it, if anyone has a similar Issue, I may have some extra's ,as I junked a bunch of the old cars in the 80's.

Nice work on the spacer and the reason for making it 440+6. Thanks for sharing the thread. :headbang:
