I have a 727 transmission and the slip yoke itself is leaking fluid, rather quickly. I need to fix this. I understand there is a seal or plug that is the frequent culprit on the slip yoke. What is the name of it? I am trying to find a replacement to fix it without buying a new slip yoke.

Thanks.

Is that not the same thing as the rear seal o the transmission? If so, that is not what is leaking. The leak is from the slip yoke on the drive shaft. I give what you called it a search just to be sure that isn't it. The part I am looking for should look similar to a freeze plug.

ok...your talking the yoke itself is leaking. I believe there is plug in the center. perhaps yours has rusted out??. I know most would just plug weld it and be done with it.

Yep. I was hoping to find a name/PN for a replacement plug, but I could make one.

yoke plug.....

I don't think your going to fine a replacement plug for the slip yoke. There is a product made by Miller-Stevenson.... a two part epoxy.... that will seal the yoke just fine. Used to seal the core plugs on NASCAR blocks, amoung other things. ebay or a google search should steer you to it.

seal it or toss it, there is no real OE fix to this issue other than what has been stated.

They make replacement slip yoke plugs, you need to see your local driveline shop and bring it with you, spicer makes them in many different sizes.

If you have your old one, you can remove it, clean it, take a ballpeen and peen it to make it concave, then put some silicone in the machined section of the slip where the plug is pressed into, take the old plug and hammer it in, it will flatten somewhat and now be as if it was pressed in.
