After installing the headliner on the 65 Bell, I discovered that that the 4 clips in front, that retain the inside windshield garnish trim, fit loosely. Once the windshield is in , and these don't hold, I don't think you can get them back in properly. so I had to come up with an insurance plan that holds them secure, and does not interfere with their function. Drilled a small hole, and installed a #8 1/2" sheet metal screw into the corner. Not going anywhere. Has anyone out there experienced this problem before? I can't be the only one.

I just did my 69 and they were loose as well. I found that after I removed them I squoze the clips together on the inner part, which allowed me to install them easily. Then once they were in place I used pliers and squoze the part you can see in your pic, hence tightening / opening the inner part again. I think this was how they were originally installed.

Yeap a pair of pliers and a hard squeeze installs them properly

I had the same problem with my clips but did not discover it until after my windshield was installed. Wish I had known before the glass went in and I could have used your fix. The clips seemed to fit initially. Not until I tried to install the trim piece did I find that the clips would not hold. The trim kept falling down. Tried numerous clips with the same result. So I don't have that top trim piece installed. Can't use the screws with the glass in place.

Yup did that ....Just did'nt have enough faith in it. Cursed for being a Belt and Suspenders guy!
I may have a new set if you want them...just cover shipping....post some pics so I can make sure they are the same..

I bought the after market clips and they didn't fit. It made the trim piece sit down to far and when I squeezed the clip, the tang broke off. I tried reusing the old ones but they don't like to be bent back and forth. I turned a round hole in to a square hole and then inserted these pushnuts and attached with a #8 screw and washer. Pretty sure it's not coming loose.

Your example is exactly what I feared. Have you come up with a fix yet? If you do, please share.
