Could somebody take a few measurements of the exhaust port spacing on a small block? I had the brilliant idea of (if the spacing is close or the same) I would buy an inexpensive set of small block headers, cut off the flanges make a few modifications and weld on new flanges for a late model hemi....whoala inexpensive late model hemi headers for a b-body.

I have no idea currently if this will work or even close since I don't have anything to measure off of (all my small blocks have been sold).

Thank you in advance to any who help.

The new style Gen III, 5.7ltr, 6.1ltr. & 6.4ltr./392ci Hemi's exhaust ports are evenly spaced apart not like the SB that have the 2 center exhaust port are right next to each other 2"-2-1/4" apart at the ports center line & an exhaust port on either end separated by like 6-3/4"-7" or something like that at the ports center line, the SB Chryslers 273-360-LA & 5.2ltr-5.9ltr. Magnum series {both types have the same bolt & port configuration}... I think you would have to completely reconfigure the pipes & the angle out of the heads to match with the motor mounts, block angle & oil pan, steering shaft &/or steering box, around the starter, the K-member & the torsion bars, all being an issue for clearance up to a Gen III Hemi, probably still cheaper though if you could make it work... It's like 16" Center of the front #1 to center of the back #7 exhaust ports on a SB 318... This style may be a better candidate for that type mod, maybe the 1996-2000 Ram & Dakota shorty style truck headers for 5.2ltr./318ci & 5.9ltr./360ci Magnums like Hedman's, JBL's & Edelbrock's & others, are all a rear exit style with the collector much higher up in the engine bay at the back of the engine more near the top, so that my give you more clearances, for steering, starter, torsion bars etc., just rerouting the exhaust head pipe, instead of trying to fit the collector & pipes around everything... Just a thought...

Thanks! That answers that and yeah I remember the two center cylinders are close together now that you say that. I was daydreaming about it at work so not looking at the hemi. Looks like I may have to just make a custom set instead.

yep

:iamwithstupid: Yep with some major mods & tube bender you probably make it work... Nothing wrong with dreaming... I think out load a few time now & then myself, it's always nice to have a second set of eyes looking at stuff... Good luck

Yeah I will probably end up making a set. I plan to make my own motor mounts so a set of tti's even if I could afford them would probably not fit. I'll tell you , making a late model hemi work in a 60's dodge takes an exercise in patients when you are on a shoestring budget.

Thanks again for the help

I could Imagine costs would be high, even wrecking yards are getting big money still for late model stuff... "they are kind of wide looking", I don't know the dimensions of a Gen 3 Hemi, do you know what is the appr. size is ?, length, height & width & maybe even the weight ?...

I think this has most of those measurements:

Otherwise if you need more let me know I can take some. (I need to download pdf reader so I can't look at whats on that right now)
