Here is what I got, It was nice to see that for the most part the front of the car and fender tag matched the vin. Still trying to find the engine, trans. The trunk quarters must have been replaced none of the numbers matched up. Would make sense since I have a 68 rear bumper on it when I bought it :angryfire: going to go to the DMV soon and get the registration history and see just how many owners there were and see if they are still around, I know the last one but he was young and only had hear say for history. Sequence Number is the matching number on the radiator support and the fender tag have to look at tranny still and trying to find were on the motor it might be? Looked at the usual spots but all the engine has are the castings and pad stamp for displacement/date

Check on the rear of the block, at the top, behind the valley cover hold down The numbers should also be stamped on the transmission at the same place, 12 oclock position on case.

AND it's almost it's birthday! yeah lol ur dam right I'm going to throw it a party! haha it's driveable and so long as the rain aint commin down she is going to pimp out the streets here crappy paint and body and all :)

Well can't seem to find the number anywhere, all I could find besides the black and deck stamps were these numbers on the top of the bell housing edge (I think) 8A2C7 593 Also near the oil sending unit is a 10 guessing 10" clutch? OR 842c7

It's auto, and I just confirmed the number above the bell housing area is 8A2C7593

So thinking this is not the matching motor? I know the 8 is for 68 and the first letter is the plant but don't know which one. supposedly the last 6 numbers are the vin? me sad I think not original motor.

Those would places to look if the car was a 68.

On a 69, the numbers will be stamped on a pad about 1/3 of the way back from the front of the passenger's side of the block and on a pad on teh side of the transmission. Check out Andy440.com for pictures of where to look.

If you found the numbers on the top of a bell housing, the components came from a 68. Can you see the numbers on the pad on the front of the engine? Do they say D383(1968) or E383(1969)

On your tag decode, look again at the code between H51 and L31. Are you sure it's not J25?

I'll look again when I get home, the block stamp is D383 12 292
There is a J25 on the fender tag. Decodef as 3 speed wiper, you think it is something else?

You have a real Road Runner so no worries there. Also hard to find a factory AM/FM radio car. Don't be so sure that the quarters were replaced. Best thing to do is look for signs of cutting and welding. Go over the car with a fine tooth comb.

Well I am happy that it's not a clone and was sent out as a RR. The rear quarters look like work had been done but it looks good and when I say looks like I mean one side seems to have a different primer on it inside. And as the paint is chipping off (both side tail lights) you can see the original color under one side and bare metal or grey primer on the other so maybe only one side was done. it looks old like 80's old I would guess it got hit from the back or back side. Also the passenger side door and side towards the rear have bondo almost like they tried to form the edge with bondo weird..

I hoping that the original motor maybe just blew and under warranty a dealer replaced it with this one. It is a 68 block with all the right 68 parts heads, manifold, exhaust etc. and it runs so I am just going to freshen it up with some new gaskets and paint and call it my back up motor.

As far as the interior, some one wanted black so the original buckets are long gone and the saddle tan is gone except for the door jambs and dash top were vin is, dash pad either got dyed or replaced to black, rest of dash around glove box and instruments is black. head liner is black. rear seats are black and correct for the year.

If I can get my hands on some black buckets at least the inside would look correct.

At least the shell is correct lol, they don't call it RESTO MOD for nothing! lol
