So was a 440 an option in 1969

Yes. 383 was standard.
440 was an option on Sat. and many others, as well.
standard on GTX.

I believe in 69 it was only available in the GTX until the 69 1/2 came out with the A12.

I stand corrected,
not sure why,
but I always thought a 440 (non A12) was an option on them all, you learn something new everyday.

I had to look it up myself. I could of swore they had 440's available. That is why I love this site and the questions. I get to learn new stuff all the time.

Except for the 6-barrel cars, a 440 was never an option on a Road Runner, until 1972 as the "Gtx" package. The GTX model ended in 1971.

440 only in an A12 car in 69 and GTX - R/T. Some ended up in Darts and Barracudas but I believe those were specially converted. Perhaps Mr. Norm? Not counting the Chryslers with 440's of course. 70 RR had a 440 option including 6 BBL package.

^^^^^^^^ Not counting all the 440 Superbirds

No. The 69 440 A bodies were available from the factory. There weren't a lot of them but they were factory cars.

I recall reading what was supposed to be new car test when one of them was given to one on the car mags that did reviews and the 440 Barracuda got stolen

Ok, so who can tell me when the 426 became available for the 69 RR? in the half year part or at the beginning?

I believe he was just referring to the regular road runners. I never heard of a 4bbl car built in 70, whats the story with that ?

It was available in 68, as the only other engine option.

The Superbirds which were converted by Creative Industries, only had 440-4, 440-6, or 426.
