The 727 picture demonstrates one issue I had with NHRA & the SFI certifications. My tube Arrow came with a homemade trans shield. It fit great and I'm sure would have worked well if needed. When NHRA required the SFI certification, I bought the commercially available part and quickly figured out that the designer was not at all familiar with what fails in a 727 . The SFI piece did not really cover the area of the front drum (the exploding part). Designer clearly thinking Glide. I made my own mounting arrangement and slid the whole shield forward to cover the front drum area. Never needed the shield, thank God.
