I wish I had some cool 'news' to report about the 300, the Satellite, or the GTX, but, I'm up to my eyes with 3 GM products. The cool factor is what I'm doing, especially to the 81 Corvette. Now I know this is a B Body place, but, this is too cool to not share! The Body has been removed, placed on a Rotisserie, and Frame also on another Rotisserie. The Body has some massive damage to the rear most Body Mounts (#4) that has required some massive fiberglass removal and soon to be rebuilding with lots of Matte, Cloth, and Resin, and of course Gel Coat. If this thread gets any interest, I'll post a few pics, with links to where more reside.

What was the HP rating for the 81 Corvette? 170? Refresh my memory.

That's the era of "torque rating" on the console, because it looked more impressive.

More importantly...what's the resale value?

Around here it's $500-$3500.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Gee,
Someone is investing big time money and work into a 81 Vette!
Either sentimental value or do they know something that I dont know ??

The 80 and 81 corvette is one of my favorite corvettes. I love the body style and would love to have a nice one. Even though it wasn't a fast car they sure did look good cruising. That would be a hard car to restore. I graduated high school in 82 and if you had a 1981 corvette you was the man.

190 horse....and I kinda like those body styles too but my favorites are the older ones starting with the 58 and going through the very early 70's. The 66 is probably my favorite simply because that's the first time going to a Chevy dealership to look at one and I really like the body style.

They're not worth doing what I'm doing to it, but, it was his Dad's car, and he wants to do it right by him. But, the 69 Camaro I'm working on at the same time is worth the money!

Sounds really interesting to me even if they are not Mopar products. Everyone has different taste, this is what keeps the world going. Yes post some pics or links.

I was surprised to find out how few 69 big block Camaros were made. And how much they go for. Most of them were small blocks. They are very high priced. My son wanted to get one, so I said I'll find one for you cheap one- no problem. WRONG.

Heck Yeah Donny - would love to see more of your work ! ! ! Post some pictures ! !

IIRC L82 350ci ZBC code 230hp it was the big optional power plant, it wasn't a real barn burner either, for a 3300lb+ car, but the L81 std. 5.7ltr 350ci was 190hp 4bbl Rochester, 8.2:1 compression, angle peanut plug Aluminum {742 turbo 1.92" intake/valve heads on the L82 IIRC}, 2.72:1 rear gears for all 4 speed man. & 2.88:1 for an auto 49 state & Calif. 2.72:1 gears for an auto....

Wasn't code L48 the standard engine?

I agree the mako body style is probably the "sexiest", but man, they drug that older technology waaaaay out.

Pintos had rack and pinion before the corvette. WAY before.

Delivered the Corvette to guy today, he long ago gave up on caring on quality, and became only fixated on costs. But, I still gave him top-notch quality even though he scathed me in numerous emails as he scoffed at paying me, and I said I'll execute a Mechanics Lein...he then attempted to besmirch me from what he found online...haha, funny! If anyone cares, I, yours truly is known as the 9-11 NCO. I was an Intel Analyst and wrote a response in an email that 9-11 was an Inside Job, and we've been had, etc. This email and subsequent situation ruffled LOTS of feathers all the way up to the Pentagon and White House. The entire US Army was after me, and I have been trained in the very art they were unleashing on me, albeit I was two steps ahead of them! I went to the Media, gave them the story, my story, and the correct and accurate story backed up with paperwork, this gave me Cover in the onslaught. Bottom Line, I was excused from any wrong doing related to 9-11, they got me on 'Reply All' in my e-mail, which resulted in a slap on my wrist. So, this customer of mine tried to go after me on my Army service telling me "the Judge will LOVE to hear how you were kicked out of the Army for your 9-11 stuff, oh yes, I know all about you"! This, my friends just pissed me off to no end, mainly because he's too dense to read, and even ask! I never was kicked out, I retired with honors as an E7 after 21 yrs in. I posted online that if you have an issue with me, let it be on my ******* WORK, not my prices, or my Army career -- even when you have your facts all wrong! He later admitted he was wrong and apologized. I said I accept it, but, I want your car gone, so, all the 'verbal' do this and that you gave me are DONE, not going to be honored, only what's written down! So, his car is a roller, and he's going to put a good 50-200 hrs in it just figuring out how the Emergency Brake system is installed in the Corvette. There's a LOT of things this Mechanical Engineer modified to his car that I had to go through and sort out, but, I put it all back together the way he had it, and I have pics to prove it too! Too often when people see dollars and costs, the project really has stopped. Next time I see this in a customer, I'll conclude what I'm doing and tell them to come get their car. When they see dollars, they don't see the work, or the quality and efforts. My Dodge Ram diesel guy was the same way, I hope my 57 Corvette guy that comes in this week is NOT this way!!!!
