I'd try out the 3.91 SG that I just swapped the 3.55 sg for. Perked it up quit a bit.

3.91's are a blast in town, but freeway driving sucks.

That's fer shore! I'm going da uther way! Can't wait to swap my 3.91's for 3.23's and drive at highway speed like those around me without the engine screamin! :)

That is one nice thing about the 8.75. Pretty much a quick change rear end. I can swap the diff in 1.5 hours. I have several different ratio SG diffs. Even a 741 case with 2.76 SG. 291SG, 323SG, 355SG, 391SG, 410SG and 456SG to soot what ever mood I'm in.

I have to take a different car out to do so Mark... 2.94's in the Bee, 3.23 in the '64 440 and 3.55 in the Bird and Dart.

hated driving around with my 4:10 engine was screaming, now have 3:23 and much better

I have a 3.55 in my 2007 Ram 1500 but bought a 3.92 axle for this very reason. I want more "out of the hole" snap. Overdrive does negate much of the RPM and mileage penalty.

What do you have in the red Charger? That is the car with the TKO, right?

Of course if money wasn't an issue for me, it would be a gear venders OD unit! Then I'd probably keep the 3.91's! However, the thought of 3.23's with the OD unit I could almost idle down the road at 75 mph, lol!

My buddy has a 70 Cuda vert with a 340 and 3.23 gears. We put an A518 in it. I drove it the 800 miles to Reno. At 80-90 mph it was great but at 65-70 not so much. The 340 just didn't like that rpm as much.

When I bought my '04 Ram new back in the day, I (foolishly?) wanted the 20's on it - you could get those
with 3.55 gears then. Once I drove one with that setup though, I held out for the 3.91's - the tires on the 20's were tall
enough to make the truck a real dog with 3.55's.
Not long after that, Dodge made the 3.91's mandatory with the 20's. Same reasons...

My Dakotas with OD have 3.55 gears. Joe Dirt and the Green Weenie have 3.55's but no OD, yet.

Thanks for posting, I'd like to see Dart & Valiant also. Yu should just set up a garage like I have & you won't get hounded, lol! Thanks!:D

The Weenie is my 72 Dart. I should call it the Hodge Podge Dodge. It's a 72 but looks like a 71. Has a 73 K and front suspension, 66 833 tranny, 2002 5.9 magnum. 4 wheel disc and QR manual steering.

I started a member's project thread over on FABO but I never post anything or keep it up-dated. I'm really lame on stuff like that.

I have the 3.55 gear in the Charger with a 2.87 first gear.
I've thought of putting in a 3.73 or a 3.91 but the car has so much torque, I don't think it needs any more leverage.

I think the 3.55 is a great (and possibly the best?) overall gear without an overdrive - enough grunt to get you going and at least somewhat reasonable to cruise on the highway.
