Anyone have any idea how many years Mopar used the type of speaker grill that is in the dash on a 62 Belvedere? I am looking for one. Seen a few that look close but not marked 62.
I think a '63 Savoy speaker grill will work. Maybe any '63 Plymouth without a padded dash, not sure. If you don't find something PM me. I have one I've been saving as a spare but it's far from perfect.
The problem with a used grill is that it is going to be very brittle unless the car spent most of its life under cover. $200. for a used original that will probably snap off the tangs when you try to install it or $100. more for a new reproduction from SpecialTs. After going through two originals, I bought the new one and since I look at it everyday, it works for me...The picture you showed sure looks like the one on my 63 Fury...
If it becomes to much of a hassle I will just custom cut something and install a moderen radio/nav set up in there. Maybe a couple of aftermarket gauges. I can always spend $100 on something more useful.
Thanks for the heads up, I didn't think about the high possibility of breakage on an old plastic part
i have garage kept 62 not a day in the sun in over 50 years and the edges of each fin are so brittle. It drives me crazy. I was thinking about getting a 3d printer and trying to make a new one. It seems people are always looking for them and the one guy who make them wants alot of money for a piece of plastic.
The 62 Ply/Dodge B body speaker grill was also used in 63 in Plymouth Savoy and Belvedere as well as 63 Dodge 330 and 440 models.
Very tough to find. Even a nice original car will most likely need one due to the UV exposure and low grade plastic used to make them.
I had several reproduced over 15 years ago but the cost was so high and the demand so low I never had any cast past the first batch. They were better quality then the originals and could be passed off as NOS. Bob Mosure bought several for his restorations.
