Any one know where to buy the speckled paint similar to what was applied in a 1965 Dodge trunk area? It is a grey base with black, white, and I believe blue speckles.

I checked all the hardware stores and local automotive supply stores with no luck.

That type of stuff was generally used on the other makes of cars. It was called "Zolatone". Sold at many places, just need to know the name.
Of course that is a trademark name so it has other generic names as well.

Classic Industries has quite a few colors. $13/ a can.

There were a couple different spatter finishes in 1965, one dark and one 3-tone gray.

you need to go to an automotive paint supplier , we used to make up some stuff like it with water , enamel and lacquer based paint all together with a slight stir and then in the gun to spray the trunk areas . it was a difficult task cleaning the gun after , but did the deal many times .

I'll get some pics of my '65 Coronet, survivor, tomorrow. I also bought a can of matching spray bomb, at Carlisle, several years ago, from Layson's. I haven't tried it yet, so...

Don't forget , a lot of the trunk paints need to be cleared. Satin clear would probably be best , Eastwood has it.

Dupli-Color trunk paint, available at any Autozone. Looks identical to what my other unrestored cars have in the trunk, could be that different factories used different formulations. That’s the best picture I have at the moment.

Thanks for the input folks...I was calling it the wrong name....Now using spatter paint in my search, I am finding it with no problem!
It's amazing the amount of hits you get when you change search words around. Good Luck

Not perfect, but after some sand paper, wire brush and some primer, looks better than it was.... Most of it will be covered anyway once I put the factory mat back in....but I wanted to get rid of all that corrosion before it became a bigger problem....

Looks good for original. I found 4 cans of spatter paint, but I had to buy them from two different auto parts places. Not as nice as original, but after I put the mat back down you wont see most of it....

As the old saying goes, "It wouldn't be seen on a trotted horse"!

Got the mat back in and the spare and jack mounted. The mat is a little worse for the wear. Does any one reproduce these?

EDIT: I just found that Classic industries sell these reproduction mats. I just ordered one plus a few more cool items for my Coronet!
