So after replacing my speedometer with an autozone CA3014 unit I have run into some issues. It worked fine for about a few minutes until the speedometer dropped below 0 to the middle point of the gauge and stayed there. It moves slightly when the car is rolling down the road but other than that I don't know what to do besides buying another one and hoping it works. The car has a 904. Any help would be very appreciated.

Maybe in the speedo unit. Mine had a bad odometer that did the same thing. I bench checked the replacement with a drill.

It also might be because it's not fully clipping into the speedometer. This looks like it should fit fine although the cable is pretty long. I might have done a half-assed job but I've never installed a speedometer cable before. Still does not explain why the speedometer dropped to the middle of the gauge and didn't come up though.

Make sure the cable isn’t too long (check factory length) or they can bind. Make sure it’s not melting in your exhaust. Make sure your speedometer turns freely (as mentioned)

I believe its too long ill double check
Yeah, I don’t know if it’s 2” or 8” or whatever where the problems start, but it seems like when they’re really too long the inner cable hangs up on the big bends
