For you guys with the 63 - 65 B - Bodies does anyone know what length speedometer cable that you are using?

I see some for sale on E-Bay. They're either 63" or 83". I measured roughly 63" without having a dash in place. I just would like to know if that size definitly will work or if the longer one is the ticket. But don't want an extra 20" just dangleing. :edgy:

Just thinking it might help if you know that the engine is a 440 with a 727 attached to it. Car in question.............Dodge 440.

Thanks

i would think the 63" cable would work, heck that's 5 ft of speedo cable.you don't have any old ones laying around that you could measure,do you?I'm just putting a reply in to you,not for sure if there is any difference between a 63-65 or a '68 and up b-body.

No I bought the car about 75% built and one didn't come with it.

did the ebay ad say what the cables fit? I know there is about 18"-20" of cable from the dash to the firewall and probably about 4 ft of cable from the firewall to the tranny so maybe the 83" one would work,so there probably wouldn't be that much xtra dangling.if you get a chance to take a tape measure and measure the distance in away the cable would be as it routes thru your dash and firewall that would give you a better idea on what you need to get.I hope i'm helping somewhat.

I'm thinking shorter is better........( in this case ).

This afternoon I took some phone cable and ran it from dash to tranny. Measured it and had about 61", so I'm thinking the 63" cable will work.

The ad is for the 83" cable but it also mentions the 63" if you want that one instead.

Guess I was just hoping someone would definitly say one way or the other that has bought one.

It will use the 63 inch,i have a spare one, does your car take the speedo cable with a nut at each end or does it take the cable that sides into the tranny.Either way the 63 inch will work.i have a 65 plymouth belvedere ,and the one end sides into my tranny,Im not trying to confuse you but there are 2 kinds of speedo cables

Thanks Mr. 63" it is then. I need the one with nuts on each end.
