sprAngs and hardware....

I'm lookin around for which leaf sprAngs to use for my 65 Coronet. I have pretty much settled on the 3400 pound S/S sprAngs. But lookin on the Summit site, the 2" longer front hanger I know I will need is not listed to fit a 65. Is that simply a typo or will they really not fit? If they won't, what do I need? Thank you, drive through.
 
I called Mancini. They said my only option if I did not want to use the 3" relocation kit, which I do not, is to rearch the springs I have. They said the springs are narrower from 65 back. I simply cannot believe there is no bolt in spring for these cars. Anybody know of anything else?
 
someone emailed me about this place the other day ? it about 20 minutes from my house but i had never heard of them ????????

They can do anything you need. They can even make a custom spring that will be rated heavier than stock to the length you need, thus eliminating the need for the 2" longer front hanger. A bit pricey though.
 
I guess essentially what I am trying to find out is will any of the S/S sprAngs fit and if so, which ones and which front hangers do I need? I would rather run the 3400 pound S/S sprAngs if they will somehow work.

This is why I posted the link, they have the direct bolt in AND they can make them heavier too.

I know...I was sorta hopin I wouldn't have to have 500 clams in leaf sprAngs. If that's what it takes, then so be it.

That is an option. But Mancini told me on the phone today that they are narrower than 2.5" springs. I think they were smokin somethin. I will make some measurements and see what's up.

Yup, that confirms they are the same width. 2.5". The difference is where the center pin is. It's 1" further back than the S/S springs. That means a pair of 3" longer front hangers will make the S/S springs work. That's what I was thinkin. Thanks.

It was me and the springs arrived day before yesterday. They will fit my 77 Cordoba with new isolators and clamps. The isolators are from Energy Suspension and even though it says they won't fit my car's set up, they are in fact a spot on match. The clamps came from Wildcat Auto Wrecking in Sandy, OR. The springs are five leaf instead of the four leaf that are on my car, but they fit fine. I think the individual leaves are a little skinnier. We will be putting them on tomorrow or Friday/Saturday. General Spring does not actually stock the springs, they either are a jobber or some kind of broker. The springs actually came from Michigan. However, it's the only thing they do and their web page shows pictures with measurements. That's a big help. It appears the clamps are no longer available new unless you get lucky, however, they aren't hard to find from salvage yards. I don't think a machinist welder would have too difficult of a time fabricating them. They would not be necessary for the project discussed in this thread.

The guy I talked with at Mancini musta been in retard mode. They have the brackets I need right on their web site.

What did you end up ordering to get them to work? I have a friend who just found the same problem today trying to put in a set of SS springs in a '65 Ply Belved. Thanks.
