Stamping on engine boss

[1967 satellite]

On my engine, the boss by the distributor is stamped C 383 and below it is 1 222. What does this all mean? I now it's a 383 engine but I can't seem to find out what the other stamping is?

that other 2 is 2nd shift, I believe
