Anyone ever herd of staples holding vinyl top on? they are in the top corners of front and back window under molding.asking for friend. Its a 68 Coronet R/T Hemi car.

I found a couple vinyl top staples on an A body.

Just redid my top on my 68 coronet. No staples on mine.

I found staples holding on my vinyl top in a few places. 69 Charger, it got me wondering how I am going to duplicate that when replacing the vinyl top.

My 68 Charger had them front and rear, mostly along the roof transition must have been 10 or so staples on each roof line.

has anyone removed them and not replaced them/replace (and how)? how dose it come out any issues?

I used a flat blade screwdriver and just worked them out. I welded up the holes on mine but I think you’ll be okay just stretching the vinyl over and useing some 3M adhesive to glue the edges down. Make sure you mark the hole location for the trim clip screws before you glue it down.... it’ll save you some time

They were not used for the vinyl top. They were used to set the roof skin in place prior to welding it up.....

Back in 1984 when I replaced the vinyl top on my 68 Coronet for the first time; I found staples in the front just above the windshield and just above the rear glass. The staples were holding the vinyl top on front and rear.
