Looking for a mini torque starter for my 440 any ideas on which ones the best
value for the money?

I have run a couple of different ones over the years and can't say I can see any difference. Never had a problem with any of them. The one on roadrunner came from O'reillys Auto part. I think I paid 105 bucks for it so cost wise, it was a good deal. Ultima Brand.

Was it a mini torque style??

I am not sure of the exact yr but at some point in the 90,s Chrysler switched to mini starters for all of their V8 engines. They weigh about 1/3 of the previous era starters and are high torque. You can pick one up for under 100 bucks and they bolt up to any mopar V8. I just swapped one into my 340 when i installed my new rock shield and the new battery cable from my trunk relocation. This is the model I have, it came with a bunch of parts I purchased yrs ago so not sure of the quality. https://www.amazon.com/DB-Electrical-SND0088-Plymouth-Starter/dp/B008TW83FU. Compare it to the Summit mini starter at $140 and they look identical.

I have one of those D-B mini starters in my 67 R/T. Good starter for the price.
I used the one from DB also, great starter.

Also used the terminal relocation kit sold by a member here, can't remember the name but made install a breeze with plenty of clearance.

I'm running an O'Reilly or Autozone, off-the-shelf Dodge Dakota small block V-8 starter. It took VERY MINOR moficiation....bent one electrical connection about 1/4" to clear the block if I remember correctly.... and the motor spins over like it never did before with the 1/2 dozen stock-type starters. Great investment. Look for late 80's or maybe early 90's (?).....5.2L (318) or 5.6L (360) Dodge Dakota truck starter.... all of them are the same & will bolt right up

AND SEE 440+6'S LISTING ABOVE....LOOKS PERFECT

Dodge 318-360 Magnum V8. Denso mini. Half the size 1/3 the weight 2.5hp over the 1.8hp a stock BB starter has. Junkyards are full of em for about $25-$30 each. Only thing that really goes bad over time is the solenoid contacts. Dorman sells a contactor kit for $13

Soooooooooooo, Why do you disagree with my statement? I have 2 that have been in commission for over 13 years each without a problem! What's there to disagree about?

Like others here, I use the DB Electric starter. I've actually bought 4 over the years. All in different cars (318 van, 340 race car 10.5:1, 340 race car 12.5:1 and a 520 BB race car 13.5:1. All are still working just fine. The price is low so I carried a new spare in the trailer which has been in the box for four years.
