Is there anyone else on this forum that likes the old machinery from the last century?? I just bought a steam engine model to play with, am having a ball with it. It did not have much on it so I am putting a inline pressure oiler and a govener to control speed, put a nice little exaust pipe on it and will put a whisle on soon. It is a s-50 stuart, built by someone who knew what they were doing, makes a very relaxing sound sitting there running at about 55-60 rpm. this is my long gone uncles fault, he used to take me to the local steam and engine shows when I was about 11 and 12 years old, now it has come back to bite me on the butt, not as bad a hobby as drinking beer and chasing women, and a whole lot less expensive. Dave.

my late Uncle was into all kinds of old power. the hit n miss engines, crawlers, etc. the engine club he was in had a model steam club, plus that had plenty of the steam tractors.

I held a Stationary Engineers license for decades. When I was studying for my license I had the opportunity to visit many power plants that still used steam driven pumps . It was always a real thrill to see steam driven equipment and small steam turbines that powered pumps and other equipment

a friend of mine when i was a kid growing up in irish hills michigan, had a steam tractor he bought when he was 14, picked up several more over the years. he would pull the whistle on it when he was messing with it. you could here it for miles pretty neat stuff.

cool, that green one looks familiar.

we have a "flywheelers" show that is crazy big and very diverse.

I have been to steam school put on by a local group. That gave me to ability to run the steam tractors at our local shows. It was an awesome time we stoked up about a dozen tractors and drove then around the show grounds.
I have several hit and miss engines.

Around the midwest there are Threshing Festivals where old tractors, steam included are put to wirk doing what many if them were doing 100 years ago.
Cool stuff, glad I dint have to do things like that though. Lots of work and dangerous

Probably hard to make out. Two Deleval turbines. HP & LP. 900lb boilers

Built in New Orleans in 1980 as the Benjamin Harrison for Waterman Steam Ship. Originally a LASH design built to carry barges. Bought by SEALAND in 1990 and converted to carry shipping containers. Been sold to several companies over the years. Now owned and operated by Pasha Hawaii. Just shuttles between Oakland, LA, and Honolulu.

Also picked up this 1890's Remington reciprocating steam engine and building a wood fired boiler. Have retirement plans to build a wooden boat to put these in.
