I was wondering if the later 68 and newer power steering columns would fit in my 66 coronet,or if any one can suggest a rebuild kit for the 66 piece, It's a no shift column that i have and want to be able to find pieces to freshen it up without much of a hassle, keeping it original is not much of a concern to me,thank you.

I believe the rag joint, bearings, and the other rebuild kit for the cup is still available from Mopar. Most of the time the problem everyone is trying to fix with these coulmn rebuilds turns out to be a worn sloppy gear box.

I'll be getting a firm feel box,so I guess thats out of the picture, thank you for the info I'll be contacting Glendora Dodge for the parts.:)

The 68 column won't work in a 66 car - at least not bolt in.

Rag joint?? I don't recall seeing one on my 66 Belvedere.

The turn signal switch is also different on the early cars but I was able to make a 68/69 switch work in my 66. Also, the upper steering column bearing is the same as the 60's Fords or late model Dodge trucks and vans. Unless it's rusted from sitting out in the weather you can just clean it up and regrease it. I just had the column apart in my 71 Ranchero and from the looks of the parts I'd say they were made by the same vendor.

Take it apart first. You may find nothing is majorly wrong and just a good cleaning and greasing will do the trick.

Will do,although I know for a fact i'll need a turn signal cancelling cam since mine are as soggy as a sponge:(, I'll definatley rip it apart and do some cleaning and greasing.

The column to dash mounting brackets changed in 67' to a more 'safety minded' mounting system. FYI, not sure if it's a quick changeup. I passed on a 67 column awhile ago because of this I believe. I am looking for a floor shift column.

These brackets are interchangeable, I think, I just sold a 66 and a 67 floor shift columns, these also used a very different lower column bearing, which I haven't been able to find new, the lower column bearing for 68-70 is now being reproduced. (the diameter of the 68,69,70 columns are smaller)

There is a great thread on the coronet registry forum about the differences between the 66 and 67 columns. According to the thread there, they are not interchangable without going through heck. Quirky differences just like those between the Chargers and Coronets.

The main difference between the 66-67 column is the 67 is collapsible and the 66 is not.....

Didn't they make the column bigger round starting in 67 with the collapsible design? If you look for steering column parts it seems that they always segregate them by lumping the 63-64-65-66's as the same and the 67 and newer together. The turn signal cams are and example. If you go to ebay, they have them broke apart like that.
