Hi all, The plunge joint on my '65 Coronet steering column has a fair amount of play and I was thinking of converting to a UJ like those from Borgeson.
The obvious advantages are no maintenance and no play.
Anyone done this? I wondered if it was essential to maintain any up and down motion as the UJ will be fixed in this plane.
Thanks

The conversion is a LOT of work and I would just get a new factory style one with the whole kit and replace that the pin and all the half moons....and tap it for a grease fitting and it will last another 50 years...

The Borgenson joint will not satisfy the flex in the column and it might be risky! Replace the joint withthe new updated version and you will be fine!
