Steering column lock spring

Ok, this one got me. I am sure you have heard a million times, "I took my column apart to restore, and I have this little spring....". Yep, it got me too! Can some show me the exact routing of it, please?

Don't have a picture,but i think the spring goes under the lock plate on your steering column shaft and that is held in place by the "c" clip that fits in the little groove.Put the spring on first, then your lock plate,push down lock plate then fit clip in groove.Hope that helps.

I am sorry, maybe I didn't explain this spring well enough. This is a floor shift locking column. The spring goes from the top of the column, to the collar that you push down to get the key out. I have tried several ways and it seems to bind up. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Ok, after much thought and experimenting, I finally got it right! During my internet search, I found a couple of other people that had the same question as me, without any answers. So...I am posting a picture in hopes that it will help someone else out too!

Does anybody know where I can find this spring? I'm converting column shift to floor shift. Column shift collar doesn't have this spring. I've already checked R/T Specialties website.

I couldn't find the spring either. I can't believe they sell the collar and don't include a cheap part like the spring. Here is a link to someone that made one. It would be great if a member could make a bunch from an original. I'm sure they could sell a ton of them.
