Hi everyone,

I am having some trouble finder the right fitting that goes on the steering box. I even ordered the fitting that supposedly goes on the top of the steering box from Summit racing, and it does not fit. It’s to small and does not connect the hose. It fits the steering box but not the hose. It’s not an AN4, and it not an AN6 fitting. It’s like it’s an in between the two sizes I have mentioned. Does any one have a idea of the correct fitting that goes on the hose to steering box.

Thanks in Advance!

I haven't checked but, it sounds like the AN5. Same size as used on trans cooler lines

Yes, I asked the guy I bought the hose from. He guaranteed that it would fit or that it was the correct hose with fittings on each end . Only they came with the fitting. And it looks like the ones I bought in the past.

I think the same, but do they make an AN5 that fits the gear box?
My bad. Just checked and it's smaller than the trans -5. But don't think it's the same as the Saginaw one Fran posted

When researching this fitting for my 1971 PS box, I came up with this part: Lares 177. At some point, Rockauto carried it. Maybe still do.

I checked the Chrysler parts catalogs and also looked at several different power steering boxes. They all use the same fitting like the one in your picture. I inadvertently left this fitting on the box I turned in as a core , and the new rebuilt box didn't come with it. So I went to the junkyard and grabbed a couple of them.

Looks as though the hose has the wrong size B nut on it. Sould be a #4 AN fitting to accommodate the steering box.

I have the story now. I have a 73 and up gear box. Some where along the way, someone got a steering box of a later origin . They in turn transferred the fitting to the 73 and later to steering box. I talked to the man that I bought it from on eBay, he said that I had the 73 box and that he had the fitting to use my new hose on the steering gearbox and Saginaw pump. He is now sending it to me today for the price of about $22 with the shipping included. So if anyone wants to know the fitting for that Saginaw to the later 73 and up, they should get this fitting from him because he knows exactly what I needed and he was very very knowledgeable in the subject and knew just how to fix my problem.

I believe that the AN series of fittings use 37-1/2° flare and the other standard is SAE series which is 45° flare fitting and the seal to the steering box is an SAE straight thread, sealed with an O-ring and back up nut and washer. It is possible, but not likely it's a Metric thread.......just my opinion......
