i dont know if this is possible but here goes my question. when i bought my 6.1 hemi it was still bolted to the cross-member and has the power steering rack and pinion. do you think its possible to cut that off and weld it to my 70 cross member and use it with the 6.1 power steering pump. thanks again guys in advance. usaroadrunner.

The later cars are front steer, ours are rear, so you would need to check the "ackerman angle". I suppose you could swap the spindles to the front, but I think it's gonna be a whole lot of "trying to recreate the wheel" so to speak. I would just use the factory stuff and plumb some hose's (custom) to your oem box and call it good.

in short - it'll never work without extensive(!) fabrication, custom spindles, and a butt load of time.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but..... I have been "researching" a build and wondering if a front steer would be possible? Looking at some of the front disk upgrades, you can swap the knuckles side to side to place the caliper front or rear, why not swap them to get the steering in the front?
I know most if not all of the aftermarket K's with rack are front steer, I guess the big question would be is there enough room?

BTW I'm thinking of a 69RR build with a GenIII Hemi... It's pretty far down my bucket list, but it's there.... She was my first, you never forget your first!!!!
