going to install subframe connectors. heres the question. car is on its wheels, body off the ground. motor and trans. still in car. its level all away around when leveling off inside door sills and bottom of rockers. when i get underneath the car leveling off the bottom of the front subframe side to side it reads level and back subframe side to side reads level but front to back both sides dont. so what should i go by level door sills or level front to back subframe? thanks

Level the car this way...on top of the door sills, this will get the front to back level. To get the side to side put your level on top of the cowl and also the rear deck, not the trunk lid, the space between the glass and trunk lid.

This will make your car level and to double check, open and close the doors, they will operate much smoother. Now tack the connectors in, check doors again, smooth? burn them in.

Should the car be on jack stands, tires on the ground or what about putting ramps under the tires?
I'm getting close to putting connectors in mine, but if I leave the car set on the ground it's too low to work on

Some say the weight of the car should be on the ground, some say it doesn't matter. When I put mine in, it was just a shell and on jackstands, also used thin sheet metal as shims to get it level. I put the stands on threar frame rails and on the front rails about 2 feet off the ground and went to town. Use the stands so you can shim if/where needed.

thanks 5.7 hemi, i had it right them, just did't know if i was post to go with the body or subframe are both .its sitting on ramp with weight on the wheels. doors work fine.

i was wondering if i could drive it on my friends drive on lift and with it up in the air you could just check everything out and weld them in i think if you had access to a drive on lift that would be ideal.

That will work just fine, just check the front to back and side to side level and burn them in.

5.7 hemi has been the closest to being correct. If the car is complete with running gear, the weight of the car must rest on the tires.Level the car using shims under the tires.Using a four foot level, level the car using the pinch welds almost always.Check your panel gaps in the process and readjust the panels before you proceed.
Empty shell set up on jack stands and level.Set the jack stands on the subframes at the crossmembers. This means at the torsion bar crossmember and front spring perch area.I also use screw jacks for ease of leveling and a set of regular jackstands for safety.Saying all this I assume the vehicle is in good structural shape.
