......so the Minn Gold is running rough folks. I started her this week after let her sit out the cold weather for 5 weeks, and she's running like crap. Pulled the plugs and cleaned them up, and still not too good.....sounds like its missing on 6-8, but almost like an exhaust leak.....no leaks found, and I pulled the valve cover off and all looks nice and oily. Cold cranked her just to see how she turned over and all looks fine....lifters pumped up. Could I have a vacuum leak? I did a compression check too.....jut in case and all were great. Held pressure in the 8 cylinder for like 20 min before I released it.

Thoughts?

a bad distributor cap once had me chasing my tail..... it's usually something simple

It's definatly coming from the passenger side of the motor.....I removed the hear riser a while back, as the butterfly was rattling a ton....but this issue is add. Sounds like diesel a bit....seems to go away above 1500 RPM.....

Just ran a vacuum on it and its at about 20 cu in of mercury. Super odd....

Bad gas, fouled plug or plugs or corroded terminal on cap.

Thoughts?
Run it till its really good and warm. Check the basics like check the cap/rotor for corrosion. If that does nothing, maybe time to change out the gasoline to fresh stuff and run some more.

Topped the tank off in Jan, but Filled up In early November.....so hopefully its not bad gas.....

.....I wonder if i should just take it out for a Drive.....put some miles on it.

for what it's worth...... I was involved with a build that incorperated a brand new crate engine, brand new carb, and brand new fuel cell.......... got the car running, but didn't go for an actual ride for a few months....... car began running like **** within a mile or 2...... carb was jammed up with chalky yellow **** from the gas I suppose

...ok folks....figured it out.....and its stupid.

The pass through for the rod for the heat riser.....1/4 holes both sides, were farting out all that racket. I put the rod back in sans the butterfly.....solved the issue. What the hell......

You can tap the holes for a 5/16"-18 bolt.
Run a bolt right up to the shoulder and then cut them off inside and out.
And yes that was kind of stupid.

May have sucked some junk into a jet, air bleed or port somewhere. While running cover your carb with your hands or something else to make it stall. Do this several times if needed. This will cause anything stuck anywhere to suck itself through in most cases.
